If it is uncompressed, then call it Dolby True HD!! Big difference . If your reciever has 5.1 analog inputs, then you can use those to get the uncompressed sound from your player. The player will do the decoding and send it out over the analog outputs. If your player does not have analog outputs or if your reciever does not have 5.1 analog inputs, then you have to get a new reciever. I have the 5.1 analog inputs and they sound great, but I have to have the new DTS-MA so I bought a new Onkyo TX-SR805

Yes analog as in RCA, but not the two red-white cables. It is labeled as "Multi-Channel Input". Optic and Digital Coax cannot do PCM (uncompresed) but the Multi-Channel Inpit via analog RCA jacks will.

you'll need an HDMI receiver-one that processes sound from the HDMI port, not just pass-through. There is no other way to get more than 2 channels of uncompressed out of a ps3.

If your tv does not have HDMI or DVI input, then you can use the video over component and the sound via HDMI, yes. But if you do have a newer TV, you can run one HDMI cable from your ps3 to your receiver, process the sound in the receiver, then run another HDMI cable from your receiver to your TV that carries the video. All HDMI receivers will have one or more HDMI input and one HDMI output.

Remember, the upconverting of standard DVDs will only happen over HDMI so you would lose that feature if you ran video through component.
