Judging by the Amazon specs of two discs, I'm assuming it's just the first 8 episodes because the second half has not premiered yet.

Most likely. There's no way they would release the last 8 episodes as well when they haven't even aired yet.

Picking up part 1, part 2 and the complete series collection. Best show in TV history deserves purchase of all parts.

Hopefully it is only $19.99 first week

I watched the first 4 seasons through Netflix, so if they don't add Pt 1 of Season 5, then I'll likely be picking this up.

Someone else on this board already mentioned that they just added part 1 of 5 is already up on Netflix. May want to look into it, I haven't checked it out myself.

I think I will hold off for the complete season 5 unless its $19.99 on release day.

You got me totally excited, but I just checked and they only have the first 4 seasons. They did update the pic on the site with the Season 5 "Hail to the King" image, but it's not on there yet.

Easy pass. No half seasons for me, it will be an easy wait for the full season.

Also my amazon order is still listed as "the complete 5th season" with a full MSRP.

not on my netflix..i looked last night. Sad there are only a handful of episodes left. but we still have walking dead!

I don't see why people think it's a big deal that they're splitting up the Blu-ray release. I basically expected it to happen considering that's how AMC aired the final season. It's fine with me I love this show too much to wait on buying it.

It's not a big deal, it's just annoying. I don't love the show any less for waiting for the full season.

I guess I just don't see how it's any different than if they had just labelled it season five and the next eight episodes season six. Plus who knows they might not even release a full season set of the last two and might just release part two as a separate release and skip to a complete box for the rest of the series.

Yeah I think I'll wait for the full season release too.

As to why it's annoying - it'll probably be priced just like any other season, judging by Amazon's current placeholder price (and MSRP). Season 5 shouldn't be any higher than Season 1's MSRP, in my opinion.

Also, another reason it's likely just part 1 is that Amazon lists a runtime of 374 minutes compared to other seasons 600+

I'll be waiting for the full season release as well. I haven't watched the show when it aired, so I can wait a while since I've only watched the first season so far. If a full season release never ends up happening, then I'll get both parts, but I'd be surprised if they didn't release the full season together at some point.

Might as well cancel my pre-order on Amazon then. It says The Complete Fifth Season on mine as well, but we all know that is meaningless now, especially given the release date.

I just got done watching the first 4 seasons back to back after picking them up on Black Friday. LOVE the show. I'll be waiting for the full season to be out before I buy season 5 though. Got plenty to get through in the meantime. Just started Game of Thrones and I've got Homeland, Person of Interest, and 4 Seasons of Mad Men sitting there waiting, amongst other thing.

I have to say, I'm really interested to see where they take this after just watching the conclusion to Season 4 last week.

It looks like Sony is going to officially mark separate seasons of 5 & 6 instead of 5 part 1 and part 2.

I think it makes more sense that way, considering that production was not complete when the eighth episode of Season Five aired and there's been such a wide separation between episodes.

Yeah they should just call this season 5 and the rest of the episodes season 6...makes more sense.
