.
The 7th Cavalry Regiment, Gen. George Armstrong Custer says, rides "to hell or to glory. It depends on one's point of view." The point of view of Raoul Walsh's spectacular They Died with Their Boots On decidedly favors glory. Errol Flynn portrays the famed cavalryman in this hoof-and-thunder chronicle tracing his career from dandyish West Point plebe to Civil War hero to frontier legend immortalized by the Battle of Little Big Horn. Olivia de Havilland, sharing the marquee with Flynn for the eighth and final time, plays Custer's devoted wife, Libby. And composer Max Steiner's stirring music trumpets gallantry and sacrifice. Seventh Regiment: Charge! This new remastered restoration includes additional footage not seen in theatrical release.

Just the GOAT.

From Wikipedia: As he lay dying, Holliday is reported to have asked the nurse attending him for a shot of whiskey. When she told him no, he looked at his bootless feet, amused. The nurses said that his last words were, "This is funny." He always figured he would be killed someday with his boots on.

Was really looking forward to this release but it seems we have 3rd party sellers possibly buying it out and reselling at outrageous prices... Same goes for the Warner title Bright Leaf, but I haven't seen it with other warner releases. Here's hoping it's just a temporary thing and Amazon and other retailers will soon have copies in stock.

Looks like it's back in stock for a reasonable price... and what better time to buy than now that the site review is live?

Jeepers, Randy Miller III's comment in his review that "...the film's only sin comes in the form of flagrant historical inaccuracies" is more than a mouthful if his review is accurate that Custer saved a "bridge from invading Union forces." Particularly since he fought on the Union's side.
Admittedly, it's been years since I've seen the film so perhaps there's a plot turn that I'm unaware of or maybe he meant "for" Union forces.

The movie's wrong about a lot of things, but not that wrong... just an embarrassing typo on my part. It's been fixed.

There is nothing on Earth that sounds quite like that amazing sound of the Warner orchestra! I'm super pleased this is available.

I know this release contains an extra minute or two of footage. Has anyone noted what that footage is?

They Died With Their Boots On Blu-ray Review

Just checked Amazon’s price and it is NOW higher than the $24.99 SRP. Which is ridiculous since they are a prime (not a pun) retailer for Warner Archive.
I’ve noticed that most of the WAC 4K releases are typically priced over the $29.99 SRP at Amazon.

It’s infuriating to see over pricing like this. I will keep boycotting these over priced items. I buy a fair number of other 4K and Blurays from them as I can earn 5% rewards with an Amazon co-branded credit card.

Sure, Amazon has occasional sale prices on WAC discs, but pricing over SRP stinks on their part.

From how George described it, no significant scenes were added back in. It's all just reverting trims throughout the picture (mostly a matter of seconds each) that were made after playing to the troops overseas.

Indeed, the price is too high...but I'm starting to get used to it. Food and gas are expensive as well.

WAC has only released three 4K disks in total. The most recent release, on Wednesday, GET CARTER, is currently selling for $22.99, not $29.99 or more.

The other two 4Ks, THE SEARCHERS and HIGH SOCIETY are $30.11, so a big 12 cents more than $29.99.

A couple months ago WAC did raise their suggested list price for BD's for the first time in 13 years from $21.99 to $24.99. According to the CPI inflation calculator $21.99 in July 2012 is worth $30.01 today, so that increase is well below inflation.

Amazon is free to set whatever prices they want, of course. But Amazon can have lower prices on relatively recent releases frequently. For example, as I write this comment the first title in the Newest Deals listings on this site is the WAC BluRay of Lili for $13.49. That title released at the end of April. You do have to keep up with those bargain pricing because they come and go--I save a lot of titles I want in my Amazon Shopping Cart and check every couple days to see if the price has dropped. A fair number of older WAC releases are around $16 +/- $2 or so.

But no one says you have to buy WAC disks from Amazon. I do find I can save on a lot of WAC titles buying from DeepDiscount. Especially when they have their once or twice a month 15% off sales that bring their prices even lower, both pre-sales prices and ongoing prices.

MovieZyng--the retail storefront of Allied Vaughn who manufactures the disks for WAC--has a yearly sale that brings the costs of all WAC disks down to around $13 each with shipping. Unfortunately their regular pricing is usually WAC list.
