Default The "Watch every movie you own in alphabetical order" Thread

Who wants to join me on this journey? I finally got fed up with having so many movies that I never watched because it always took too long to pick something to watch. I have been stuck just watching tv shows over and over because its quicker. When I finally do decide to watch a movie I usually just watch one from the same 10 or so over and over again.

This is also a way for me to finally see the movies I blind bought and never got around to watching.

Here are the rules. You start with the numbers or letters your choice, I am starting with 127 Hours. You then watch the movies and post two scores on here next to the titles if you are participating. The first score will be on a scale of 1-10 on how good you thought the movie was. The second score on a scale of 1-10 is how much you enjoyed watching the movie. I find the need for these two scores is because there are many movies I love to watch but I know they are terrible and movies I know are technically fantastic but they usually bore me. You can also give a few lines review if you wish but that is optional. We can then have fun discussing the movies we are watching as we go.

Optional addition: Say something incredibly nerdy about a particular scene or something in the film you really liked from how it is artsy or just reminds you of or references something else.

REMEMBER TO USE SPOILER TAGS PLEASE

If you run into a movie that has sequels or prequels in a different alphabetical order you can break the order to watch them in proper sequence.

Finally, if you reallllly reallllllly want to skip a movie because you have seen it too many times or just plain don't like it then just do so. Nobody's gonna hate.

127 Hours:
Film Score 9/10
Enjoyment Score 8.5/10
Something Nerdy:
[Show spoiler]I really loved the dream sequence where the rain started coming down and he had his all to convenient escape.

17 Again:
Film Score 6.8/10
Enjoyment Score 8/10
Something I liked:
[Show spoiler]That Indian girl who was making sexual passes at Zac Effron was hilarious. I want to see more of her in comedies. And I couldn't stop laughing at the scene where his friend and the principal start speaking elvish.

21:
Film Score 7/10
Enjoyment Score 7.5/10
Something Nerdy:
[Show spoiler]I liked how the whole movie turned out to be him narrating his essay to get the scholarship for medical school. I thought it was pretty clever and made for a funny bit at the end when the camera panned to the guy's reaction to what he was saying.

21 Jump Street
Film Score 8/10
Enjoyment Score 8/10
Something I liked:
[Show spoiler]My favorite bit of the movie had to the car chase scene where all the flammable stuff did nothing but the truck full of chickens exploded. Jonah Hill reacting on how he shot the gym teacher's dick off was a close second.

22 Jump Street
Film Score 9/10
Enjoyment Score 9.5/10
Something Nerdy:
[Show spoiler]The one thing I liked about this buddy cop comedy is despite all the jokes it was about their relationship as partners. It was cool to see a comedy develop a buddy cop relationship that well. They started off having fun, then thinking that they should be friends with people that were more like themselves, then realizing at the end that their differences are what made them such good friends.

Something I liked:
[Show spoiler]Channing Tatum's reaction to sex with the Captain's daughter when there at 22 Jump street with the timer dinging was hilarious. Ice Cube when they were the dinner and he was destroying the buffet was awesome as well. This guy needs to do more movies.

42:
Film Score: 8.5/10
Enjoyment Score: 8/10
Something Nerdy:
[Show spoiler]The scenes where Robinson just had to take relentless verbal abuse spoke to me deeply, especially where he couldn't react to it because of his principals and position.

50 First Dates (skipped) I'm setting an example to show you don't have to strictly follow the rules on here. I love this movie and as a result I watch it multiple times throughout the year. As such, I didn't feel like watching it again because I had seen it so many times. I'm putting my two scores anyways because I know the movie very well.
Film Score: 7/10
Enjoyment Score 9/10

A few years ago, I did something similar except I watched all of my movies (DVDs) in chronological order of release date. It was very interesting experiment.

I fear I will die somewhere in the R-T section if I were to try this.
A better choice would be set aside your unwatched discs and watch them in alphabetical order. Kinda what I do, except without the alphabetical part. Unwatched sit separate until viewed, then they can join the others on the shelves.

Neat idea.

What I do is every year I make a list of Blu-ray movies I own and haven't watched in three years. All I have to do is to go to My Collection and Sort by recently watched in descending order.
That way I get to rewatch Blu-rays that would otherwise just gather dust on my shelves.

That would take me two years if I were to watch a Blu-Ray I currently own every night.

Thread where bevins posts the movies he watches in A-Z order, and everyone else explains why they're not crazy enough to do the same.

You know, I'd love to try this. It seems like my collection is perpetually stuck at having 400+ unwatched Blu-Rays all the time.

Just not sure how this month will work; I kinda invested in the June BD challenge already, and if I have a Jurassic Park marathon the alphabet order will be all jacked up. I guess I'll start at some point and see how it goes...

Besides just having fun with it the heart of this challenge is watching all the movies you have. I myself have over 400 movies and I know it will take a while to get through them all. I am still going to be watching new releases I get right away like Kingsman and if my friends want to watch a movie I will watch anything and I am going to be seeing the Jurassic Park movies before I go see Jurassic World next week as well.

What happens if you're in the H's, and buy the movie Beetlejuice? Do you have to start over?

Or what about foreign movies that start with a letter not in the English language?

Translate it...then put it where that goes?

Can you give an example or two of movie titles beginning with a non-English character? Just curious.

My own collection begins with titles starting with punctuation:

*batteries not included
...And Justice for All

etc.
