HBO has announced the Blu-ray release of Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Armando Iannucci's Veep: The Complete First Season, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus (as the nation's first female vice president), Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy C. Simmons and Sufe Bradshaw. The satirical comedy series arrives on March 26, 2013.
Former senator Selina Meyer (Dreyfus) was a rising star in her party and a charismatic leader who seemed to have unlimited potential. Some pundits thought she might even occupy the White House someday. Then she became vice president. Veep follows the whirlwind day-to-day existence of Vice President Meyer as she puts out political fires, juggles a busy public schedule and demanding private life, and defends the president's interests, even as she tries to improve her dysfunctional relationship with the chief executive.
The ensemble cast of the show also includes Hale (Arrested Development) as Gary, Meyer's right-hand man; Chlumsky (Iannucci's In the Loop) as Amy, her chief of staff; Walsh (Hung) as Mike, her weathered spokesperson; Scott (My Boys) as Dan, an ambitious political aide; Simons (Days Together) as Jonah, a young and somewhat clueless White House liaison; and Bradshaw (Overnight) as Sue, her executive assistant. In addition to Iannucci, directors include Chris Morris and Tristram Shapeero, while other writers include Simon Blackwell, Tony Roche, Sean Gray, William Smith, Roger Drew and Ian Martin.

It shouldn't be a problem given that this is actually 2 episodes shorter than Girls, but who knows given the fact that this isn't in either Target's or Best Buy's ad for the week this comes out.

I just watched the entire season for review. The political comedy is scarily close to the reality it lampoons. The season is very short with only 8 episodes and I think HBO has overpriced it. It's not the funniest stuff that HBO has produced, but it's probably worth watching if you are a fan of Julia Louis-Dreyfus or political satire.
Did the show get funnier after the first episode? That's the only one I watched and didn't love it so I never bothered to watch the rest.

The Best Buy ad lists it as $24.99, so this came as a nice surprise. But the Best Buy online price is also $19.99. Regardless, I never imagined it would go this low.

Gah! I was going to get this with the Lincoln special edition set to get me over $50 at Best Buy and get that $10 gift card, but this is too good to pass up...I'll need another option at BB now...

That's good to know, I had watched it then Girls after which I didn't love right away either but continued watching it. Plus it doesn't help that I wasn't really in the mood to watch anything at the time, I just put it on.
