Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn’s PS4 edition beta was discussed during a Sony event in Japan today.

On stage, Square Enix announced that the beta would go live on February 22, 2014, which is the same day the console launches in Japan.

Hope NA/EU get an open beta for the PS4 version. Would like to try it on my PS4 one more time before I commit to buying. The PS3 beta I only got a few hours with before I was locked out and gave up.

Then whats the point of a PS4 forum? It's PS4 specific should be in the PS4 section, if it was posted in the PS3 section people would moan it's nothing to do with PS3.

Final XIV is a cross-platform game where PC, PS3, PS4 all play together. Due to that, it would be nice to keep everything one thread instead of starting more threads about the same game.

If the game wasn't cross-platform; say like BF4 or COD:Ghost, then I would see a need of a PS4 thread since only PS4 players could play together. However, besides graphics, there are no differences between the versions, thus no need to have people posting on multiple threads about the same game.

If the staggering of the different gaming forums is going to stay the way it is I don't care if a thread is duplicated in both. I hate clicking around back and forth to view PS3/PS4 stuff as it is.

I wish the old format was back to be honest, now it's set up to be an annoyance, however minor it is.

I played this for 4 hours straight today! I love it so much. I haven't played a FF game since Super Nintendo one first came out. Since then, I figured it was stupid and I would hate it. Man, was I wrong! I can't wait to buy this in April.

Those playing, post some screenshots (here) if you get a chance. I'm still getting the 20019 error so it's looking like I won't get to try it. I've watched a little of the live broadcasting to at least kind of see what it is about.

I took a few shots earlier in the day, but didn't think they were worth posting since the game really doesn't look that pretty compared to most other next gen titles.

Is the map supposed to show you where to go for a specific quest? I am supposed to take a message to someone at the coral tower and I cannot find it anywhere!

For those of you fearful of delving into such a large, complex game as this, SE is introducing a new feature in the upcoming update that might be of interest to you. A "mentor program" where highly experienced players can volunteer to guide newcomers to the game. There will be rewards for being a mentor, but not many as the goal is more to help newer players. You can read the full Q/A at the Playstation blog. The free trial of the game is always available.
