USA Fox/MGM Halloween Faceplate Series (Cool artwork)

Wasn't sure where to put these since these aren't exactly slipcovers. Fox/MGM will be (re)releasing some classic horror films with some cool new faceplates, which are basically cardboard covers that go in front of the cases. These all release on September 9th according to Foxconnect. Ignore the french on the cover too, FC often uses Canadian covers for their stock images for whatever reason. Click on each cover below to get to the product page at Foxconnect.

Fox has a new wave of Halloween Faceplates (cardboard covers attached to front of case). As per usual, it's too bad these aren't slipcovers. Release date is September 8th.

They look good, but sorry Fox.... I'm not double dipping for a fancy cover.

Same here. Nice artwork (certainly better than those horrible MGM ones), but one of my pledges as a collector is not to re-buy movies for fancy packaging alone. I don't care if Malibu Stacey has a new hat, I'm not re-buying it unless there's a better transfer or more extras.

Well I will accept these not being slip covers if these are embossed as some of these would be crazy awesome if they were embossed, but I have a bad feeling that it will be neither and make me a sad panda...

Agreed, they look incredible. I still might get some too. The price isn't bad at $9.99 each. I am hoping for a sale at Foxconnect soon though

I'll probably pick up Killer Klowns since I don't have it yet. I like the one for ROTLD, but I'm not going to double-dip.

RotLD has a superior Blu release in the UK already from Second Sight.

Species is also part of this wave of reissues. Love the faceplate on that one.

What's the actual cover under the faceplate? Same old art that's out now? Don't these things just fall off when you remove the shrinkwrap? Sorry, I'm not understanding the concept here. Awesome designs though.

More to double dip on... I typically use the new slip/faceplate with the old release i own and sell the new sealed copy on amazon and end up only spending a few bucks at most net.

I think it is the original artwork underneath unfotunately. I haven't seen these faceplate releases in person yet, but I think they go inside the plastic of the case. Can anyone confirm this?

These look awesome - will definitely grab a few. I don't have Silence of the Lambs or Misery on Blu yet for some reason so this is a good opportunity.

The 2003 Texas Chainsaw remake BD came with a faceplate but it wasn't attached to the cover if my memory is correct - it was just an "accessory".

That was the 2-disc SE dvd that had the metal faceplate, nothing like that on the BD that came out years later.

Silence of the Lambs is among the current wave of new faceplates out now as well. This link says Wal-Mart exclusive, but the only thing exclusive is the Vudu code as they have it and many others at Best Buy now. I think this one does look better so if it's cheap enough I might grab that one. Already own Return of the Living Dead too much (still have VHS, glow in tha dark first cover dvd, MGM BD and UK BD with original audio), so thanks but no thanks. I'll just grab a scan of that faceplate for my computer to look at if I need to.

Very cool art work. I may pick up some I don't have on blu yet like Misery and last hosue on the left.
They REALLY love re-releaing things though in new packaging (every year).
If these are anything like what was in front of Joy Ride 3 then it will look kind of cheap. I agree these would be killer slipcovers.

The Chainsaw 2 art is pretty cool looking, and I'm glad they used the original font. Since I don't have the blu-ray of that yet, I'll definitely pick it up sometime.

The other covers don't do it much for me, though they are much better than the awful 'art card' releases for The Delta Force and such which had a cheap kids 'painting' with crayons look to them.

I don't own Return of the Living Dead yet, and that new cover is pretty cool looking. But since the region 1 release is screwed up in the audio department by only including the inferior remixed audio. I'll eventually get the U.K. release of that film from Second Sight which includes the superior original mono audio track and the crappy remix.

Also the Last House on the Left artwork is pretty nice, though I'm sure they just took the remakes poster(and font) and tried to obscure it a bit. But overall, it's a nice cover with a haunting quality to it. But the remake similarity is hilarious to myself, since they even use the R rating reason for the remake on the back of the original with "The film was originally released R rated for...".

These look SO beautiful! I'm surprised that Fox would take the time to create these covers (or have them commissioned).

If they were slipcovers, I'd be all over at least three of them. But since it's only face plates, I'm going to have to pass for now.

Can we contact them and start some sort of petition?

They do fit in the front of the cases. There will also be dvd versions of these with face plates as well.

Today I was at Walmart in Minot, ND they had 2 copies of Misery on the island shelf for $9.96.

I will definitely be in for Return Of The Living Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 and The Last House On The Left (original).

These would make nice slipcovers, or even just new artwork. But I detest those cardboard faceplates
