Film Masters will be releasing Tormented (1960) on Blu-ray on April 23rd. It will include several extras, including the MST3K version of the film.

Update: This does not include the unreleased pilot as mentioned below, but just the intro and outro by Vincent Price. The actual pilot episode is just an edited version of Tormented.

Quote:

  • UNRELEASED TV PILOT of Famous Ghost Stories, made by Bert I. Gordon and hosted by Vincent Price

Quote:
Cult director Bert I. Gordon was at the helm for this terrifying story of supernatural passion. Set on an island in a tight-knit community, Tom Stewart (Richard Carlson) is preparing to marry the woman he loves. All is well until Tom's old girlfriend, Vi, confronts him at the top of the island's lighthouse, claiming he can only be hers! A freak accident throws the scorned woman to her death. At first relieved, Tom's tune changes when her vengeful spirit begins to follow him wherever he goes. He's soon tormented, body and soul, by an unforgiving she-ghost! What lengths will Tom go to in order to protect his secret? Will the vengeful Vi finally reveal herself to the others at hand? Find out in this harrowing tale of love between the living and the dead!

A good-sounding, varied list of extras/bonus features for Tormented. Was wondering when we would be hearing about what they would be.

The extras sound great, although I wish that they were including the interview with actress/daughter Susan Gordon that appeared on the German Blu-ray.

Just my observation (a helpful reminder you've made about the German release), but this could be a good example of double-dipping (am thinking about double-dipping).

When I saw this thread two things came to my mind. "Tom Stewart killed me, Tom Stewart killed me..." and K-Tel presents: Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds "Don't pull your love out on me, baby..." Yes, MST3K, enhancing our movie watching experience for 35 years.

In all seriousness, to me this is Bert I. Gordon's best film. It does work as a story and is pretty creepy.

More subtitled MST3K always a good thing!

The raw film scan is on their YouTube page. It looks pretty good before their clean up.

I watched the German Blu of this just last month and thought it looked really good, plus I enjoyed the movie very much. Although there are nice extras on this Film Masters version, I likely won't double dip. The German one has the original trailer, which I always like having, plus a nice slipcover, which I can take or leave. This is a solid buy if you don't have the German release, no doubt, especially as the German copy is pretty pricey right now.

The final set of extras for the release are pretty impressive, including an unaired TV pilot for Famous Ghost Stories, which was hosted by Vincent Price:

I really enjoyed the MST3K episode and honestly thought the movie was great as-is.

Will be buying.

Did the previous releases from Film Masters have a slip, and a booklet? I think this package is particularly nice. Of course, Tormented has excellent poster art to begin with, although I wish they would’ve used a slight alternative for maybe a reverse sleeve.

Very happy indeed with the finalised list of extras/bonus features for Film Masters' Blu-ray release of Tormented (had genuinely forgot to reply in this thread since the Blu-ray.com news article was posted (slacking a bit here, which I've hopefully rectified), especially the unreleased Vincent Price TV pilot. Hoping for something similar with the next announcement by the boutique label.

So the actual pilot episode is not presented? Is that because Vincent Price isn't in it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember the actual Famous Ghost Stories TV pilot as just an edited version of Tormented. I believe it was released as a DVD years ago.

The T.V. pilot was just a cut down version of Tormented as the episode. No need for it IMO.

All the same, they should have listed it as the Vincent Price intro and outro from the pilot episode, rather than the episode itself.

So is Price in the pilot or does he just do the intro and outro?

Price isn't in TORMENTED, so reading the tea leaves, I guess he would just appear in the intro and outro.
