Default Astro Boy 2009!

Have you guys seen this?:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/dor/ob...e1_121908.html

Astro Boy 3D animated movie coming out later this year! Any fans of the original on here? It seems with movies like this one and Speed Racer, that old-school anime are finally making their way to Hollywood.

I loved the original, I watched the lousy series last year and I hope this movie is good.

I never really saw much of the original, but the teaser trailer looks great.

DVDBeaver review

Great screens; marvel at Astro's fake nostrils!

It seems like the menu may include the little Astro animations from the official website. I'm glad cause I thought they were really cute and expertly made and wanted to have them saved some way! Ahah!

Unfortunately, it seems like the deleted scenes and new animated sequences really were one and the same after all.

Picked up the BD today. PQ is quite good. AQ is pretty good. Not the best I've heard, but decent. There could have been more LFE in my opinion. I felt it was kind of weak in the LFE department.

I saw this at Walmart yesterday for $7.88. Unfortunately, its in a double pack paired with "Furry Vengeance" a Brendan Fraser train wreck. I think I may go back and pick it up regardless. Any custom Astro Boy covers out there by chance?

Default Help! Problem with Astro Boy audio

I'm not sure this is the right forum, and feel free to move the thread, but I would REALLY appreciate some help with my issue.

I cannot get the main audio to play on the Astroboy BD consistently.

On my Momitsu BDP-799 the Summit logo that opens the disc has audio. The menu only has audio when switching options, but the background audio is silent. Then when I play the disc both the main Eng track and the Spa track are silent. I have the audio settings at: 96mHZ, Bitstream Mixed. Audio goes out through coax to an older (4 years) Sony HTIB. This is the first time I've had a problem with this on any disc. Please help!

On my Insignia NS-WBRDVD the audio plays sometimes. I've tried it about 5 times and gotten the audio to play twice. All of those audio settings are default. This is my second copy of the disc, I got one that didn't work so I exchanged it for a new one, thinking it was a faulty disc. Now I'm not so sure. Is anyone else having an audio problem? HELP! My son has been disappointed every time we've tried to watch this and I'm desperate enough that I've considering getting the *gulp* DVD just to make sure I have something that works.

Since you haven't mentioned it, have you tried a firmware update for your player?

Well, the Insignia updates automatically and it still has trouble with the audio, but the Momitsu has a new firmware I wasn't aware of. I'll get the Momitsu firmware installed and report back. Thanks for the obvious tip that I totally forgot!

*edit*

It works! I fell dumb having started a thread for something I should've known to do beforehand. Thanks for reminding me though!

My pleasure. Watching this movie on DVD would have been very unfortunate.

I, too, have the BDP-799 and the only way that I can hear the audio is through my audio receiver bitstreaming the core of the DTS-MA English track. If I try to run the audio through the HDMI cable hooked up directly to my TV, it's a silent movie.

However, as you've already discovered, upgrading the BDP-799 to the March 2010 firmware disables its multi-region capability, so I'll pass on doing the "upgrade."
