Default Blu-ray drive manufacturing cost?

Anyone have an educated guess on how much it would cost Sony to produce a Blu-ray drive?

I heard rumors a while back when they were talking about the posible price of the PS3 and the production costs that the Blu-ray drive in the PS3 cost Sony about $200 per unit.

In actual production cost excluding royalties and R&D - the same as a normal DVD Drive.

I made an Internat search and ended up in this thread...

Considering the higher numerical aperture used by Blu-ray, shouldn't that put higher requirements on mechanics, optics and mechanical control parts, so that the manufacturing cost will be higher than for DVD?

How about the manufacturing cost of Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD, excluding royalties and R&D?

Could someone please comment on this...

Should be a little more expensive for BD as HD DVDs components are dated.

Yes, especially the higher NA explains the (little) higher production cost of a BD drive.
