My guess is either new artwork or a couple of extras. Or just a new UV edition.

And probably a bone like some really teeny-tiny sliver of footage from the production of Spectre?

Not sure you're thinking about the right film there...

If Apollo 13 (same studio) is any indication, this will (hopefully) be a remaster with a new supplement or two. Maybe some marketing attention given to a possible "4k remaster."

Both of these titles are "evergreens" for USHE; perennials that get re-released because they sell. Casino was one of their first HD DVDs. I'm speculating that both of these titles will be amongst USHE's first 4k BD releases in, oh, 12 to 18 months.

WHV just did the same thing with Goodfellas. "I'll Wait ('Till Your Love Comes Down)."

Yeah, I think people are confusing 'uncut' here. The film was cut for an R-rating as per MPAA requirements, which the UK '18' reflects. There is no pre-MPAA cut available anywhere, so you're waiting for eff all.

There was a rumour that the NC-17 cut played in UK cinemas but that might be bogus? I was a tad too young to see it back then.

It did play as I saw it at a preview in the Empire Leicester Square when it still had that massive screen 1.

Was definitely more violent than subsequent home versions.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I saw it at the cinema too (I worked at the Odeons Leicester square and Marble Arch about 25 years ago), and after seeing it on DVD and subsequently blu-ray, don't remember it being any different at all.

And I'm generally pretty obsessive about censorship.

But I saw it at a festival I believe but definitely prior to it's UK theatrical release. It was therefore almost certainly a preview rough cut although it was a finished film at that time, but must have been before the MPAA required edits were made. As you will know the Leicester Square cinemas are allowed to show pre BBFC certified films at festivals and other events.

Malcy30 is definitely right, I saw this at the London Film Festival at the Empire Leicester Square as well (I was the first to post about this) and it was the pre MPAA cut version. The vice scene had the eye pop and the baseball bat scene goes on forever, much more violent than what we have at present. What was shown later on it's actual cinema release may well have been the MPAA cut.

Finnish VHS release is cut by 1 minute. Notable cuts were:
Tony Dogs being tortured with the vice

Baseball bat killings

The version shown in Swedish cinemas in 1996 removed 43 meters of footage (the vice torture and baseball beatings).

There are two network television versions: the original 3-hour theatrical cut minus objectionable footage, and a re-edited 140 minute version put together under sole supervision of original director Martin Scorsese.
