My guess is either new artwork or a couple of extras. Or just a new UV edition.

And probably a bone like some really teeny-tiny sliver of footage from the production of Spectre?

Not sure you're thinking about the right film there...

If Apollo 13 (same studio) is any indication, this will (hopefully) be a remaster with a new supplement or two. Maybe some marketing attention given to a possible "4k remaster."

Both of these titles are "evergreens" for USHE; perennials that get re-released because they sell. Casino was one of their first HD DVDs. I'm speculating that both of these titles will be amongst USHE's first 4k BD releases in, oh, 12 to 18 months.

WHV just did the same thing with Goodfellas. "I'll Wait ('Till Your Love Comes Down)."

Other than Apollo 13, Universal are also releasing Waterworld 20th anniversary, Gladiator 15th anniversary, Tremors 25th anniversary and Breakfast Club 30th anniversary on the same date.

It's pretty much certain that the Breakfast Club will be the same remastered one as the US Edition so that makes me optimistic. However the Gladiator one makes me pessimistic, as it's already been remastered before and it looks great - I don't see how this one could be a remaster. So who knows..

A new disc could also give Universal the chance to include all the extras of Casino (and maybe some new ones) properly on a single disc. The extras from the 2 disc DVD special edition have been weirdly split between the HDDVD and the blu ray release - the HDDVD has about half of them while the blu ray has the other half.

And as someone mentioned in the US thread, if this is a remaster, hopefully it's the original uncut version with a couple of extra seconds of extreme violent scenes that were cut.

Thanks for the tip about these other May re-releases in the UK from Universal. Curious.

At first I was going to say that I thought the Gladiator remaster was just because of all the complaints about DNR so bad on the first release that arrows would disappear mid-flight in the opening battle sequence. My recollection was that that happened fairly quickly after the first release and was therefore different from a remaster happening a few years later.

But in looking at the site's database, it appears there has been a remastered Gladiator released in the UK that wasn't released in the US . . . ?

The remastered Gladiator was released both in the US and UK.

Paramount has the rights for Gladiator in North America, Universal for everywhere else in the world, as far as I know. There is a remastered US release:

http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...D=2056#auswahl

You can also compare it with the remastered German release on the page (same as the UK release). They're basically identical and look amazing... Which is why this anniversary edition being yet another remaster seems very unlikely.. Maybe it has some new extras, although the 2 x disc (both blu rays) UK remastered release is stacked with extras.

As for Tremors, it's possible that it will just be a solo release of the slightly less atrocious non-DNRed release from the Tremors Attack Pack release of all 4 Tremors movies (Tremors 1 is on a single disc with Tremors 2, and Tremors 3 + 4 are on Disc 2):

http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...ID=299#auswahl

Waterworld looks crappy and could definitely use a new master.

Now I remember after pulling my Gladiator off the shelf. I got the UK Steelbook because I love the combination of the mask cover art on a Sb. Then I sent in for the replacement/remastered disc. So I have disc two extras (white label with FSK and other Euro logos on it) and disc one feature film (plain grey Sapphire Series disc) in the Steel.

Back on topic, it's crazy that you can barely sell the original Apollo 13 BD for $5 on Marketplace now. For BD, we're already south of the profit margins I was seeing six years ago when I was selling my DVDs as BD announcements were made. Hurry up with 4k slate announcements, studios!

I remember watching the uncut version of Casino at a premiere screening in London before its original theatrical release. Remember then being disappointed with the DVD as it had been slightly edited to remove some of the extreme violence.

Yea, I was there too, The London Film Festival, I was the one that posted over at the US Forum, both the vice scene with eye pop and full brutal baseball bat in the cornfield scenes, I believe it was also shown uncut during its UK general release as well. These cuts especially affect the cornfields scene with very poor jump edits where the cuts were made.

Both are pretty violent especially the baseball bat scene. No released version outside of the theatrical showing (at the London Film a Festival definitely and most probably during its UK general release) are uncut and are all the MPAA print which was what was shown in US theaters.
It was rumored it was shown on Sky movies during its premier run but this was later quashed by a person who had a recording of this on vhs.

Especially sneaky of them, if you're right, to sneak it in among legitimately remastered Anniversary discs.
