Default Strange Days BD - when will it be released?

When will Strange Days BD be released in the US?

It is one of the best futuristic-cum-dystopian noir alongside Blade Runner. In fact it is one of the most overlooked movies of all time.

Should we start a petition to get it released?

Pfft, this is probably stuck in the same limbo as True Lies and Abyss (the film was produced by Cameron's company Lightstorm Entertainment). Don't hold your breath

It's not even his bloody film though, Kathryn Bigelow directed it.

LOVE this movie, it's a proper head****. Be nice to see a 'Y' added to all those '2K' banners and placards though.

The German second release (dont get the first!) is pretty good - I got it when it was cheap but I dont think its cheap anymore . Ive no idea on its region status mind.

Its not a great film in my opinion but its certainly one I wanted to own.

EDIT - its region B Locked.

Great film. I'd definitely buy a BD. Come on Fox, get it sorted.

Recently re-watched Strange Days - Excellent cyberpunk-like film that brings to mind the '90's fascination with virtual reality & the concern/nervousness about Y2K.

My first thought as well, although I also stick Ravenous, Lake Placid and The Edge in that batch of old non-anamorphic Fox dvds that desperately need(ed) a BD release, and so far half have... There is hope, just not a ton of it. I expected it to be at least announced when Hurt Locker had all the Oscar buzz (and wins), but that didn't happen. I also don't think anniversaries have anything to do with Fox's plans or lack thereof. We pass more every year, and then a new "where is True Lies and The Abyss" thread pops up.

It's also OOP and very expensive. However it is one of those discs where you can play it on some Region A players by hitting "Stop" and then hitting "Menu". I have the disc and have watched it this way.

But he did write, produce and edit it... So there's that. (I've read that he couldn't receive credit as an editor because he was not in the union, he joined before making TITANIC the following year.)

Maybe Disney buying Fox will fix all this since they are opening Avatar land. I really want to buy this movie. I can stream it on HBO Now but i would have to sign up for a free trial and there is no way the ending with all the confetti will look good streamed. Plus now I want this in 4K!

Now that Abyss is being remastered anyone have hope this will be remastered down the line after True Lies and other James Cameron movies?

Kinowelt released two differently packaged ones. I had both, only have the digipiack now, and both looked to be the exact same dic.
Or do you mean the Koch Media by "second release"? I was going to pick that one up till I came across the Kinowelt digipack at a great price.

True Lies and Strange Days will never get remastered same as Point Break, all those masters are about 20+ years old, Cameron doesn't care about those anymore.
True Lies would make money for Fox err I mean Disney but Strange Days is a very niche movie.

Why is there still no Strange Days bd, or better yet, why isn't it even available on streaming services?

I bought my first region-free player for this very movie (Region B from Germany). It was released by Fox in the states and was made by James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment, so there may never be a Region A Blu-ray.
