USA Strange Days

Does anyone know if there has been any word of a US release of James Cameron's "Strange Days"?
I know there's a German (region B) version, but that does me no good.
I've searched everywhere and there seems to be very little info on this movie.
It's a great movie and needs a US release.

Cameron only wrote that one, didn't direct it.

One of my favorites though.

I have only seen this once, but I really liked it. I would pick this up if it came out, but it is doubtful.

This is a Kathryn Bigelow film. So now that she's just won the oscar for best director (a historic event, since she is the first female director to win such award), and her film The Hurt Locker won best picture and gotten so much praise, Im sure Fox will want to release her kinetic masterpiece Strange Days on blu ray, now that she's got everyone's attention worldwide. Same goes with her first war film K-19 The Widow Maker, which I've never seen (is that on blu ray already? Near Dark already is). Anyway, here's hoping Fox makes it's move and seizes the momentum. It's business for them and joy for us, since I really love this character-driven mind-bending film.

Exactly! The Kathryn-Bigelow-as-Queen-of-the-World factor makes a release of this title make more sense now than ever. It was a powerful (and wholly unwarranted) flop on its release and I'm not sure its cult-film-via-home-video status has been sufficient to fill that financial gap. Bigelow's recent Oscar win makes this the best chance for Fox to maximize all potential profit they can from a BD release.

I'd love to get this on Blu. I have the DVD, but I don't think it's anamorphic is it? Been a while since I've seen it.

Also need The Abyss and True Lies, since those never got an anamorphic release either (or at least not any that I am aware of). More James Cameron work on Blu would only be a good thing!

he only bad thing about films he early Cyberpunk style films, like this and Johnny Mnemonic, is the technology just looks so outdated and comical, it takes away from the enjoyment

If Fox was ever going to release Strange Days, now would be the time to capitalize on Bigelow's moment of fame. Her best movie by far, and that includes The Hurt Locker.

No it's not. I've been waiting for a nice lookin' copy of this movie since before DVD's were invented. This movie is fantastic, I'll be camping out for my BD when it hits the streets. IF the man is reading this, please release Strange Days on Blu ray in the States.

I really enjoyed this film in theaters, but not as much when I first saw it on DVD. I think it suffers a bit from not being quite far enough in the future (and thus, the past) but I'd certainly watch it again if it comes to blu-ray and re-evaluate.

Same here. Rented it when it first came out and have not seen it since. Would definitely buy it on blu.

This is available in Germany from Amazon.de. According to this site it is Region B locked but with no official review and no user reviews I would want to here definitively before I gave up on playing this on a Region A player. No listing on liesinc.com

I would love to get this on Blu as well. Seems like a perfect film to take advantage of Blu-ray quality.

Not only Bigelows win but since Cameron wrote it it could ride that big Avatar wave as well. This is one of my 10 fav movies and has a great soundtrack that would benefit from a lossless presentation.
