Default Best Buy and Circuit City Restocking Paramount Titles?

People keep saying they have noticed this in stores and on the website. Are they restocking or are they just selling titles they already had?

Personally I have not seen any Paramount titles come into our BB.

Both explanations are obviously possible but the problem I have with the old inventory theory is why be bringing it out now after the holidays? Wouldn't it have been better to have had them out during the holiday season?

I'm tending toward the stealth rerelease theory, it may be that Toshiba gave P/DW favorable terms to not publicly declare a multiformat position until inventories can be reduced, in the meantime P/DW could release warehouse BD stock without notice for prereleased titles. If current sales trends continue though I wouldn't expect P/DW to continue this kind of practice for long. This is pure conjecture on my part though.

This sounds very plausible.

My BBuy has some older titles. I bought Payback on BD in late December.

There are quite a few on Buy.com you can find my Paramount.

I have a feeling that somehow Paramount started repressing some of their previously released Blu-rays again. Maybe this does not violate whatever exclusive contract that exists between them and the HD DVD promotional group.

I'll check the BB in DC and see if they are doing the same thing

IMO the one to look out for is Shooter which didn't have a long release pre-exclusive deal and quickly sold out everywhere. If you see that title popping back up in stock you can be pretty sure what's going on.

I saw several yesterday but not Coming to America, Trading Places, or Shooter. There were definitely ones there that have not been there in a while though...
