"Then they only get one copy"

This is the frustrating part! I go there at lunch time the day of release (for big titles) and that 1 copy is already taken!!!

Blockbuster is struggling (Netflix etc) and is probably cutting any corners they can. HD will need to be much more widespread before they will give it a fair shake.

The BB near me (13 min drive) has some Blus but not enough to be in stock of any movie I want when I get there.

I just found out that a Hollywood Video near my office now carries Blus and they had a huge current selection to choose from.

I know where the rest of my rental biz is going after last week.

Be glad yours gets any at all. My local Blockbuster doesn't get any Blu-ray discs!
But I think now that WB has chosen a side, it is more likely that they will spread the BD supporting Blockbusters more and mine might get some.

This is no different that how BB treated DVD. If I recall, BB was the last to start renting DVDs. Once the media becomes more mainstream, BB will follow.

Just gotta be patient, my Blockbuster usually gets the new release blu-rays one week later from the release date. But I found another Blockbuster a little further away and surprisingly they had most of the "most wanted titles" on blu-ray. Looks like I'll be heading there more often regardless of the distance

Yeah, the people at my local Block Buster are nice. However, forget about renting a new release there in Blu. They get only a couple of copies of each titles. In addition, the people that work there all own PS3 (which is a good thing), but they get to rent the movies first. Then they take turns renting the Blu-rays. Ohh, well what can we do

Thank you, because that is the setup for all of our stores, if this is'nt happening talk to the manager and stop acting like angry babies. Blockbuster is a big supporter of Blu they are putting plasmas and PS3 in the stores so that people can see what they are missinng.

Its everyones job in here to ask your local blockbuster for Blu-rays.
and get the average consumer to buy into Blu-ray.

Mine has trippled their BR section in the last month.

Keep in mind that Blockbuster was the same way when DVD's first started to show up. Extra small section and only one copy.

My BB also has a very limited selection of Blu's(for both NR and NNR)and whenever I inquire about them expanding their selection I always recieve this answer "We don't know" and when I ask if there's someone that might know more, they respond with "No, they don't tell us anything". Now I don't know if by "They" they mean Corporate, or the Managers or if indeed the clerks I'm asking are to lazy to find the info I'm looking for but it has seriously got me considering going with Netflix or another similar entity...not out of spite but just for the fact that I would like to be able to rent the Blu's that have been released. Does anyone perhaps have any suggestions for an online rental comp? Preferabley one they have actually dealt with...

Blockbuster is a doomed company they are having a very hard time with digital downloads taking off and netflix is far more popular than there movies through the mail thing.

In addition they censor a large amount of their movies that are R rated for content. I will not rent from blockbuster as a result.

Not entirely true. At my Blockbuster I've gotten a few new blu titles on release day. But I know the manager there and if he doesn't get a movie (or video game) in time he goes to Target and buys what he needs with his corporate credit card. Bought 16 extra Halo 3's on release day because he ran out so fast

While I can see where this would be annoying, and it does seem to be pretty stupid when they don't get movies in day and date with the DVD, I can see why they might only have one copy of most movies on Blu-Ray. The Blu-Ray market is still a very niche market right now, and it doesn't make sense to keep a huge supply of movies (particularly multiple copies of the same movie) in the format on hand just yet. Granted, some bigger titles, like Pirates 3 for instance, could stand to have at least 2 copies of the Blu-Ray sitting on shelves, but I don't blame them for not having some huge supply.

Don't jump ship just yet. I'm still waiting to get Live Free or Die Hard and The Simpsons Movie on BD. The customer service rep at Netflix said that they are not buying alot of BD and HD-DVDs at the moment. If they buy 500,000 plus of a title on DVD, they're only buying 2,500-5,000 copies of it on BD. I was going to cancel my order this week because it's been almost two weeks since they sent me a BD movie. They finally sent WAR on BD to me yesterday.

Netflix is great when it comes to DVDs, but they are taking their sweet time with getting BD in the mail.

That sucks, maybe I should just put the money towards blind buys based upon reviews from this site. It's starting to sound like that would be my best bet
