A24 Films will be releasing The Legend of Ochi (2025) on Blu-ray tentatively in July. The release is currently available to preorder at the A24 Shop, but should also be available at other retailers eventually as well.

If you have roku, they have the A24 app available. If you have an iphone, you can watch it via streaming from you iphone a24 app to your appleTV unit. I watched Warfare this way from iphone to the AppleTV without issues. So instead of paying $20 to rent....you'd have to pony up $27 (w/membership discount) + shipping for the digital early and physical copy on release. |

Haven't watched this but I definitely will once it comes out on disc.
But I'm probably not the first to say this: this movie looks like it screams out for 4k UHD. What a shame if it doesn't eventually get a 4k release. Anybody seen it in 4k on streaming at least? |

Before buying this very expensive (Standard) Blu Ray, does anybody think there will be another studio or distributor that puts out their own? Possibly a 4K version? I know this has happened with several other A24 films, but The Legend of Ochi does seem to be a smaller, more exclusive one so I just thought I'd check before pulling the trigger. Also any referral links would be helpful as well since I'm not an AAA24 member.

Yeah that was my thinking too. I'll go ahead and order the Blu Ray since it may be the only release it ever gets.

![]() There are areas of the movie that have subtitled non-english speaking parts, such as the 45-50min mark where the ochi creatures speak in a made-up language. I have confirmed these *are* subtitled in English on the German 4K disc when watching the movie with the English audio, so the release is fully english friendly. Quote:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...68&postcount=4 The TLDR is that the 4K UHD is essentially an SDR presentation, and the movie was filmed with lenses that are known for not being particularly sharp, so those are likely contributors to why A24 didn't bother with a 4K UHD disc. You do get the expanded colorspace, but its questionable if thats worth the cost to import. Last edited by Ruined; 09-06-2025 at 07:08 PM. |
