Quote:
From best-selling author and celebrated director Clive Barker (Candyman, Nightbreed) comes a supernatural thriller that rips apart the boundaries between sanity and madness, and between the art of illusion and the terrifying forces of magic.

Harry D'Amour (Scott Bakula, Quantum Leap) is a private detective on a seemingly routine investigation in Los Angeles. But Harry gets more than he bargained for when he encounters an enigmatic performer (Kevin J. O'Connor, Deep Rising) whose amazing illusions captivate the world ... but are they really just illusions? Harry isn't so sure as he is thrust into a nightmare of murder and deception from the dark beyond.

Famke Janssen (GoldenEye, X-Men) also stars in this thrilling supernatural mystery. Barker's illuminating Director's Cut is now presented in Ultra High-Definition with all-new Special Features.

Please Note: This release only includes a 4K UHD disc—it does not contain a Blu-ray disc.

Limited edition slipcover with first pressing.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is theatrical cut only for the 4K. At least all the extras will be back in print unlike the Sandpiper release.

Really hoping for both cuts, or at least the director's cut. This better not be a Nightbreed situation.

Really like Hellraiser, but was not a fan of Night breed. I hope this is better Night breed.

My problem with Night breed was that I thought the acting got worse and the film grew to be more silly as it went along. This feels like more of a 1st time effort than the original Hellraiser does.

I've never enjoyed Nightbreed, regardless of cut. It doesn't work as a film. I could see it working as a comic book or novel, but the execution of the film is quite poor and unconvincing.

Ugh, Scream. $35 for the theatrical cut in 4K can kiss my ass.

I can only imagine the uproar if this gets a director's cut 4K while they didn't bother with Nightbreed. I highly doubt that will be the case but what a popcorn show that would be.

Wishful thinking here but I sure hope it does! Way better flick than Nightbreed, director's cut or not

I like them both but not enough to upgrade them. Still love that snazzy box for Nightbreed though.

I love me some Clive Barker. The more releases his films can get the better. I rate Lord of Illusions and Nightbreed on the same level. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but both are highly enjoyable.

A few years back I went all in on Barker and picked up all his Novels and found both Cabal and the short stories that eventually became Lord of Illusions to be solid. Both films stuck rather close to the source material.

I'm not in a rush to upgrade but I'm sure I'll eventually pick this up in 4k as well.

If only The Damnation Game, Mister B. Gone, and The Scarlet Gospels could get the (good) film treatment. The Damnation Game in particular I feel could do well (and of course anything with Pinhead (Scarlett Gospels) is guaranteed to make money).

Agreed. No fan really wants to watch the theatrical cut as it chops out big parts of character development and a few plot points that are necessary to the overall story.

Lord of Illusions has its flaws, but I've been so fixated on this movie for AGES! Nix, Swan, Butterfield, & D'Amour are all fantastic characters and draw me into this world of Clive Barker. Give me a horror noir any day! I have the previous Blu-ray, but I was really blown away by the new scan. Fine, but not revelatory to my eyes. It had a number of flecks and debris in it. This could really go above and beyond with a new 4K scan and a Dolby Vision grade! The previous Blu-ray had a new HD scan of the director's cut, so, I can't see much reason why they can't scan it again in 4K.
