The Wes Anderson Archive: The First 10 Films 4K Blu-ray

This is good news for WA fans:

It’s been confirmed that Criterion is going to release a box set of Anderson’s first 10 movies (Bottle Rocket to French Dispatch) in 4K. Likely release is later this year, my guess would be November. From an interview with Wes in the current issue of Little White Lies:

"Let me think… I’ll say this: I have never made a movie where I would feel comfortable saying, ‘Oh, that one was a mistake’. I’ve only made the movies I really wanted to make: my own movies. If somebody likes one and hates another, they’re still part of my family, and I just have to live with whatever they all are, how they are. I’ve always tried to treat them as a body of work to some degree, and even now we’re doing a thing with the Criterion Collection, they’re releasing my first ten movies as a boxset. We’re doing a similar thing with the soundtracks, and we have the books about the films, and so on. So it’s something that I am conscious of and have been conscious of. I want thesemovies to all sit together as a set.”

Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits confirmed they will all be in 4K.

"Bottle Rocket", "Rushmore", "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" should be OCN scans. The rest, besides Dispatch, are probably going to be DI upscales unless Darjeeling, Moonrise, and Budapest quietly got rebuilds (I would be surprised if they did).

Can't wait to see what this set looks like. I always figured they'd put out one 4K relaese at time, so a 10-film set is pretty huge. Hopefully their packaging isn't ridiculous.
