Default Possible HMV Scam Ads on Facebook?

I've been seeing these ads on Facebook for the past couple of weeks. (See accompanying pics.) You click on the link and it takes you to a very convincing website but the prices are ridiculously low. I wasn't born yesterday and I follow the old adage that if it's too good to be true, then it is. And the fact that they'll supposedly throw in a free 4k player as a gift for orders over $60 is another wtf headscratcher. Most Shout releases for little of nothing. The Abyss and True Lies for five bucks a piece. Shout's Friday the 13th set for $24. Madness. Are these bootlegs or do they just take your money and run? Has anybody else seen these?

I’ve been seeing those too. At first I was like holy crap I’m getting all these. Then noticed the website it takes you to is ‘moviefatory.com’ And the comment section on the Facebook post seems to have any negative comments filtered out with a select few people’s comments with random haul pics showing up. I imagine those are people in on the scam.

I never click on any ad, far too many of them are scams to trust even the ones that seem legit. I barely even pay attention to them, except when they're disguised as news, but I've learned to avoid those too. If something really catches my eye, I'll do a search to check it out, but that's pretty rare.

My 79 year old mother recently almost had a panic attack because her Microsoft edge locked up with a security alert after clicking on a scam ad disguised as a "continue" or "next page" button at the bottom of Arby's online menu. Fortunately, I was there and the computer wasn't locked up, just her browser, otherwise she might have actually called the number as instructed.

Mom's sister recently had her and her husbands bank account emptied by some fake Norton security renewal scam, where they had to renew via bitcoin. For whatever reason it wasn't covered by the FDIC, so they didn't get any of it back.

I saw those same ones on Instagram. It's honestly shocking that IG allows those to stay up even after people report them for scam/fraud. Pretty sad state when they want the ad revenue that badly.

Website is less than a month old and registered to a PO Box in Arizona, definite scam: https://www.scam-detector.com/valida...is%20a%20scam.

A friend of mine contacted the address the page is associate with - the guy knows nothing about it. Scam Sam.

I've seen the ad a few times on FB, the last time I saw it I tried to report it but FB already removed it. That's a first, I see so many ads for bootleg labels and they never do anything about it.

I've seen the ads too. Followed the old adage "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is".
Report it every time you see it. Can't stand these scumbags.

I have to admit, it's a good scam. Of course I know that I'm not going to get all the Potter movies in UHD for like five bucks but part of my brain couldn't help thinking 'meh, it's only five bucks, what's the worst that could happen'.

And of course five bucks here and five bucks there and I pretty soon I was looking at my 'cart' thinking 'okay, yeah, I get it now, *this* is the worst that could happen'.

Oh well.

Could of been worse, like re-directing you to HMV Canada.

There are so many scam ads on Facebook every day and they don't seem to care. There was a recent one where the scammers were pretending to be a real board game store and even copied their website while listing a fake physical address.

Ads on the internet are often scams or outright false.
