Default Haunted: The Complete Series (2002)

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Haunt...lu-ray/201174/

Has anybody picked this up? I ordered a copy yesterday but I'm very curious about the aspect ratio. The 16:9 widescreen versions of this I've seen have always been cropped. The Wikipedia says it was originally broadcast widescreen and being a 2002 show I would have expected it to be framed for widescreen...

I'm curious about this series, too! The premise sounds interesting, but I echo the question above about aspect ratio. It looks like it was originally made in widescreen, but the first DVD release used 4:3. Anyone know what this BD release did? Also, it looks like there are no special features, but would love for that to be confirmed, too.

Hey - I did end up getting it. I have the DVD in 4:3, I can confirm the bluray is cropped from the 4:3 version for widescreen, they didn't do a terrible job. Picture quality is miles ahead of the DVD. Zero extras.

I also see it's currently $9.99 on the Kino Lorber site.

Thanks for that! I would definitely bite at $9.99, but KL's $8 minimum shipping takes all the value away.

I've been keeping this in my shopping cart on Target.com, waiting for their next B2G1 sale. They just started a new one today and I gave this a blind-buy, so I'll be able to watch it for myself soon.

This is part of Kino's "While Supplies Last" sale, which means once the available stock is sold out, it's going out of print for good.

Any caps?

I wonder if it was shot safe for both ratios like season 1 of Enterprise where it was shown 16:9 in the US but international 4:3 versions had more top and bottom?

I have both versions -the bluray in 16:9 crops out the top and bottom. Video quality is infinitely better.

Rewatching the show it rammed home the golden age of TV we've had. This show was very watchable when I first caught it at 1am in 2005. It didn't hold up after the past 15 years of watching brilliant shows, but it was still an entertaining light watch IMO.

Is 2025 too late for a review before this goes fully out of print? I think not!

Here's a mistake:

Quote:
Matthew Fox is perhaps best known for his small-screen performances in both Party of Five and of course Lost (two shows that have yet to reach Blu-ray)..
Lost has been out on Blu-ray for ages now.

Using two periods instead of a comma was also a bold grammatical choice.

Not as bold as you think... it was actually supposed to be an ellipses.

Ugh, no idea how I forgot that -- I still have the DVDs myself. Probably slipped my mind since a complete series BR set was never released.

This has been in Kino's WSL list for how many years now? I think it was just 5.99 when we bought it. Starting to think this one won't ever truly be gone. Apparently, even at liquidation pricing, there's just not much of a market for unfinished series the studio shot in the foot.

I still haven't finished watching our complete Lost BD set yet - hoping it's easier to follow than watching it when it originally aired. Still crossing my fingers that all the discs work, as I don't know how difficult they might be to replace now that Disney has all-but abandoned the collector market.

OK. Here's a victory.
Your review hipped me to "Haunted", and I ordered the set.
