Default Best Buy Exchange W/O Receipt??

So I bought a copy of The Last Samurai about a week ago at Best Buy and have just now gotten around to watching it. The thing is the disk skips. I haven't had this problem with any BD up until this point. So my question is will Best Buy let me exchange my copy with a new copy of the same movie without a receipt? I don't want store credit or a refund, just an even exchange. Thanks for the help...

Did you use your Blockbuster Rewards card, if so I believe they can find the transaction on their computer?.

Here is an option. Purchase the movie again at Best Buy. Keep the receipt. A day later take back the bad movie and get a refund saying it skips. This way you get the movie at the same price, unless the movie is more expensive now.

Then I suggest option 2. Purchase the movie somewhere else at an equal or lesser price and then return the bad movie and get your refund.

If you have the receipt and the product is faulty, they should be able to check this in store and provide a refund or replacement.

Is this the old argument, "We only sell the product, we don't provide the warranty, that is with the manufacturer". I used this in a previous line of work.

No, they will only exchange for the same title.

As for the original poster, I doubt you will have a problem at Best Buy as long as you're making an even exchange. I used to work at a Best Buy and we did it all the time. Nobody cares because Best Buy doesn't have to eat the cost. That falls on the manufacturer/distributor.

It would be different if you were returning a larger item such as a TV or something like that, but for a movie or CD they're not going to give you any problems.

The Best Buys in my area will not take anything back unless you have a receipt.....whether it has been opened or not......that happenned to me last year when I tried to return a gift PS3 game that was un-opened and the person who bought it for me lived in another state and did not have the receipt.

I ended up taking it to EBgames and they let me exchange it for any other brand new PS3 game.

Best Buy sucks when it comes to returns.

If you paid with credit card they can look up you receipt if it was within the past 30-60 days I believe

I was assuming that Best Buy had a company wide policy of one return per year without a receipt. I know for a fact that my Best Buy allows one return per year without a receipt.

It's against federal law for a store to give a refund on an open disc. It's part of Digital Millenium Copyright Act. The technology exists to copy, they don't know you didn't, so they don't refund cash. Exchange for same title only.
