I had a go at this article this morning already, talk about somebody who doesn't know what he is talking about and he also need to get his facts straight before he write's an article like that.I also like how he ends off the article about the digital download....

The writer bought into HD DVD on Black Friday last year, paying $150 for a player and seven movies. He ignored the market reality of almost a year's worth of 2:1 sales leads for BD over HD DVD and now rues the day he bought into HD DVD? He came to the party late, paid next to nothing to get in, and then complains that the party's over? Serves him right, I think.

Sorry for the rant. There was just enough BS in that article to warrant it.

More whiny HD-DUDers. I love how the debunked Warner "payoff" keeps getting posted as a fact. Guess that's the internet for ya.

He has since been informed of the way the format war went prior to his entry

He specifically wrote it from the ultra-paranoid voice intending for it to be funny

Yeah, I forgot to mention that, too. The writer makes sure to mention a Warner/BDA pay-off, which has been denied, but doesn't mention the Paramount/Dreamworks/HD DVD payoff, whcih Jeffrey Katzenberg confirmed. There's biased reporting, and then there's WTF?

No comment and i hope he will do some research maybe he knows that Sony is not only the company behind Blu-ray like Betamax years ago.

He should have read this forum or Digitalbits before making his purchase as I don't think he may have made the same decision. I'm sure we all knew the war either ended in 2008 or the war was pointless.

Horrible article though. Sony bashing, fake warner payoff (and no mention of paramount payoff), digital download myth, etc etc.

I find it amusing that these guys continue to say that Blu will loose in the end. It's just a sour grapes attitude. Personally I never felt laserdisc was a failed project like betamax just an alternative that went away when something better came along.

I found the article humerous.

Sure there were somethings, like the WB payoff, that I didn't like, but for the most part this was just a guy making fun of himself.

I got a good laugh out of it.... Thanks for the post.

Even worse, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and BusinessWeek reported that Sony, perhaps having learned its lesson from the Betamax debacle, paid Warner Bros. between $400 million and $500 million to go with Blu-ray. Sony hadn't won because it offered the HD-buying public any other tangible advantage. It took down Toshiba because it knew whom to pay off.

If there's any consolation for us HD-DVD-buying losers, it's that disc-shaped physical media won't be around much longer. Once high-definition digital downloads, like those available through Apple TV, hit the mainstream, Blu-ray will be as dead as HD-DVD. Take that, Sony!
Just like CDs.

It's impossible for me to find those nowdays.

What an idiot. It looked like it may not have been a total Sony bashing by the title of his article, but obviously not. Poor guy wasted $150... HORRIBLE

His intention was to write from the ultra-paranoid
