Default Energy Consumpution: LCD, Plasma, CRT, Projector

So....title.

In general, what wastes more energy? LCD, Plasma, CRT, or Projectors?
Rank from least to most.

I'm just wondering because my brother came into my room. I had my LCD on and he was saying, "this TV is hecka hot!". Honestly....I feel the heat but it wasn't THAT hot.

So I said, "Well its not as hot as the CRT I gave you and it saves more electricity." He says, "I don't like your TV". I'm like, "ok......"
His projector is a lot hotter than my TV, when sitting next to it, you can feel the heat blowing in your face. So I was just wondering, if Projectors waste a lot of energy, or is it just hot air?

I know my Plasma uses more energy than my old tube tv. Sure it was a 20" POS tv but that's beside the point.

I know it uses more energy because my electric bill is about $10 more than it was last year and the only thing that has changed is the TV. Sure it uses more electricity and I'm probably killing some animal somewhere because of it but it is totally worth it to see Lost in HD...

I know that projector use between 130 and 210W of power depending on the model, the lamp etc.. there's too many factors....

Plasma far and away uses more power

42" set is 400w

Projection uses 160-200w

LCD typically in the mid-high 2s

I just checked my 60" plasma and it is 536W while the 65" Sharp LCD is 525W. So LCD is definitely more effiicient.

Plasmas switch high voltages (could be about 200 volts) while LCDs switch low voltages (about 12 volts). Hence, plasma definitely consumes more energy than LCD. They generate more heat and they are heavier as well.

In case of projectors, the main component that consumes energy is the lamp. The size of the lamp could vary depending on the projector. Generally, this could vary from about 150 to 200 watts. Some projectors could have high power lamps. e.g. 400W Xenon lamp of VW200.

So it is likely that the projectors are close to plasmas while LCD energy consumption is relatively low.

CRT energy consumption should be lower than plasmas/projectors and are close to LCDs.
