Default Are PS3 60GBs worth more to sell?

Not that I'm thinking of selling mine or anything but are these 60GB HDD ones worth more because of the backwards compatibility factor with old PS2 games? How much would one be worth?

I never understood the fascination on running PS2 games on a PS3 when the PS2 can be had pretty cheaply and don't have to worry about compatibility.

Anyway, off the soap box...unless it's new in the box, you probably can't get more than normal used price.

I think the advantage, is that the PS3 will upconvert the PS2 games. They do look a bit better.

It's also better to have, like my 20GB, because you don't have to have a PS2 taking up room just to be able to play a few games from the PS2

I like it, I sold my PS2 before I got the PS3. I dont need more boxes cluttering up my set up. Also, BC is expected now, Blu Ray players still play CDs and DVDs, the 360 plays Xbox games, the wii plays game cube games (not even the same size disc), the PS2 plays PS1 games, and the PS3 used to have BC, so removing it makes little sense unless there was just too costly. Anyway, I have an 80 gig, and it has BC, so its good.

all the things that make the 60G a sought after model are things i wouldn't miss. when the 45nm cell finds it's way into the PS3 i'll pick one up and sell off my current 60G, so i do kinda hope demand for the original 60G PS3 remains high so i can get more than peanuts for it.

from what i understand the ps3 40 gig model can still play ps games, just not ps2 games.

60 gig model has value if you want full ps2 bc, sacd and wireless in 1 box.

while the 80 gig model does have ps2 bc, it is not as good as the 60/20 gig model.

I just sold my Brother-in-laws 60gb and I got $360 for it. Had several offers so I guess I could have probably gotten more.

upconverted PS2 games on my PS3 look a lot better than games played on my PS2.

Same with PS1. They look a LOT better running through the ps3 than they do through the PS1 on my tv.

Granted, the best solution is for me to find a 27-32" CRT strictly for PS1/PS2 games and use my ps1/ps2 hardware.

The 20GB and 60GB sell for a premium because of the backward compatibility.

Yes, they are transferable. There is a place for you to sign it over on the back.

60 Gig is the most desired PS3 by the "Gamer" demographic. The fact that you never need a PS2 plugged in again is a huge advantage. I sold my PS2 when i got my PS3 and am very pleased. In fact, i just finished God Of War 2 on my PS3 (upscaled to 1080p) and it looked more then acceptable to me. Much better then PS2 looks on HDTV's. I have a decent PS2 collection and really like the PS2 hardware built in.

That said, the rumor is that the PS2 emulator is going to be released in a firmware update very soon that will not only upscale PS2 games with 4x AA and other nifty features, but will work on EVERY PS3 ever created (including the 40 gig). The rumor is, they are doing this because they want to remove ALL PS2 hardware from the PS3 (The 80 gig had some PS2 hardware in it), they get to claim 100% backwords compatability with all Playstation systems in every unit, and they want to start offering PS2 games on the Playstation store.

Along with that, a PSP Emulator is also being worked on for the PS3. So you can buy a PSP game from the PSN Store, play it on the PS3 and then take it with you on the PSP.

I just realized i flew off into a tangent, but once all this happens, the 60 gig will be worth a lot less. Right now is the time to sell the 60 gig if you plan on going with a cheaper unit.
