Default BD cellophane shrink wrapping ... $#@!

I finally got Independence Day on Blu-ray. Of course, I couldn't wait to place it in my BD player. While trying carefully as possible to remove the shrink wrapping, I still managed to cut into the inner plastic layer, and unknowingly ripped away part of that as I removed the outer wrapping! I repaired it, if you can call it that, with some clear Scotch packaging tape. It worked but doesn't look like a work of art.

That's the first time this has happened but I came pretty close to that at other times. There should at least be a tab or something to pull and easily get that tight bugger off. I don't lack patience but I think the outer wrapping is very trying and puts it to the test!

I am an absolute stickler about my cases, inserts, discs ect. I absolutely can not stand the blu-ray cases that have the little flap to open before the case opens like with pirates 2 and No Country For Old Men. I managed to crease the top part of the insert to no country by prying open the darn flap. So tommy lee jones head has another big wrinkle in it >:[

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Every time i see one of those flaps on the side of the case, I somehow manage to pinch and cut myself.
I hate the bastards...

I actually had to get stitches in one of my fingers from those flaps. I got blood all over the case for A Scanner Darkly. ...which is really quite a shame since that case is pretty cool looking.
Im gonna probably start buying DVDs only now, JUST because of this. Maybe even sue the BDA.
/Sarcasm (by the way).

Honestly, The flaps arent annoying to me at all. I like them. . Makes them look more... Professional? I dont see what your problem with them is.

Can anyone photoshop a picture of cavemen trying to open a Blu-ray case by banging it against a sharp rock? That's what this thread is missing

Grab a Disc Wallet, toss your cases, problem solved. Just think of all the space you'll free up not having to store so many worthless cases.

Same way that i do it. The only case that i have had to replace was one of the Underworld movies, stupid flap thing broke in half during transit and wouldn't close.

I damaged NCFOM and Casino Royale while attempting to remove the cellophane wrapper and seal.

Default BD cellophane reflections from shrink wrapping ..$#@!

Does anyone else get this? Sometimes when I buy a BD and am driving back home from BB, the sunlight reflects off the blu-disk case's cellophane nearly blinding me. I almost hit the car next to me on the freeway a couple weeks ago as it temporarily blinded me!

Cant they make less reflective cellophane wraps so as to avoid personal injury or death?

Wow, two threads about cellophane in a day.

Paramount and Universal really need to make some announcements.

This is precisely why I have all my BD's shipped to my home. I NEVER, EVER buy them in a retail store and drive home with them in my car. Auto safety is #1 in my book. Yessiree.

/sarcasm
