Default Cannibal Holocaust "Companion Piece"

Yet another film to be remade (not that I'm complaining, I love remakes) is possibly the most controversial movie ever made, Cannibal Holocaust. Apparently, it's not even a remake. It's a "companion piece". It is to be called "Cannibals" and should be released in 2009.

Poster:

According to Variety:

"Relevant partner Michael Menchel and associate Steve Whitney will produce. The project is fully financed by Keith Previte of Scorched Earth Entertainment and Catherine Williams, who also will serve as producers. Paul Mason, Jordan Rush and Larry Joackim will exec produce." Whitney was involved with the Amityville Horror remake.

Anyone else excited about this? I am! I hope they go through with it and release it, and even more importantly, I hope they re-record the theme music to the original. Such a fantastic song. It doesn't explicitly say who's directing, but I hope it's either Deodato, or even Eli Roth, who's a really good horror director and obviously loves the film.

I love all of the old horror movies like TTCM and Halloween, and some new one's like the Saw's, but I've seen clips of this movie and I don't think I could ever bring myself to watch it. The whole plot with people getting ripped apart and eaten skeve's me out big time.

CH is twisted as hell. I'd watch a companion piece for it.

CH is considered a masterpiece....i think it's far from it. The movie is insane to watch more than once. Definitely not a popcorn flick.

That's why I like it!

Albeit IMO the most controversial film ever made is still "L'âge d'or" (The Golden Age) by Luis Buñuel.

Those who have seen it, in particular the last scene of the movie, most likely will be agree with me.
Odd enough the ending doesn't shows anything repulsive, vulgar, pornographic, violent, etc. But what suggests it's the ultimate controversial stuff.
Actually if it were released TODAY, I bet it would be banned in half the countries and Buñuel death threatened
(In fact that happened when it was released)

I won't give any more spoilers because I might ruin the movie experience for the people who haven't seen it yet.
