damn, these looked like they were going to be good. they better be doing something worthwhile with the money they're saving like buying a studio, luring a big 360 exclusve to PS3 or paying fot GTA V exclusivity

I like the way that in the game, the gamplay transitioned from gameplay to cutscene, seamlessly. This game would've showcased what the PS3 could do, only to have it canceled. I would've enjoyed this game.

Killzone 2 has had more than enough resources thrown towards it. IMO, while the graphics look awesome, the gameplay still remains unproven. More killzone funding is not worth either one of these games being cancelled.

I don't know about The Getaway, but it has been said that 8 Days was changing names.

Next thing, is the title. The name is changed. I can't say to what--but here's a hint for the people "Passes."

Maybe they are funding the 8 Days project under another name. According to the article, the game is all but finished (scheduled for Oct release but pushed back to Spring 2009).

All signs point to cancelled, but with a sequel, like Getaway 3, one might think it's only a matter of time before they pick it up again. As for 8 days, the black guy looks badass

8 days looked awesome in the trailer... cant believe that trailer is over 2yrs old.....

and cancelling the getaway3? probably postponing it... its a hit title.. but with gta4 still fresh in everyones mind they probably dont want people to feel put off by it

So many people seem to know what is the best course of action for a company to take. I guess that is why these people don't work for them. They make decisions for reasons like it or not.

because it's the same thing as saying GTA 5 was cancelled. It's hard to understand for some.

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that these projects have been shelved permanently, and work is not scheduled to restart at a later date.

without reading that it just read as a postponement :P

still cant believe getaway3 is shelved for good :/

i never actually played the first 2 getaways, but i heard they were ok, so i would have considered this one. And aside from teh cinematics of 8 days, it seems a bit lame

I can't believe they scrapped 8 days... OMG That game looked seriously, seriously amazing... I bet you that trailer was to get people hyped for the PS3s release now they're dropping it... EPIC FAIL on Sony's part... They're gonna have some pretty big shoes to fill, dropping that after the amazing trailers were released for it... SAD.

There is only one explanation I can think of for these two games getting cancelled and that is that they were sufferering a similar fate to Lair and Haze. They had awesome trailers and a fair amount of hype. However, when it was all said and done, the developers wern't as close to finishing the game as we thought, there was going to be numerous delays, and frankly the games wern't as good as the trailers made them look. so instead of going through a Lair and Haze type scenario where there are delays followed by a lackluster release, Sony just cut the cord right now.
