Default Universal management shake-up!

Universal has a change in management, could this spell the end of HD DVD?

Link.

I would love to see it, but Universal is a huge company with many divisions.

I don't know if HD disc formats would even be on his radar.

Let's hope for the best.

Interesting --

Well if he wants to stop the flow of red ink at Uni, then he needs to back a winner (and that certainly isn't HD-DUD)

Very interesting developments. They might wave the white flag? Well he better make a decision soon or release a statement this week.

Very interesting indeed.

I won't get my hopes up, but maybe this the first sign of much needed course correction.

I'm sure we'll all be keeping close tabs on this.

These aren't changes at Universal, they are at the parent company, NBC. One can only hope they filter down. As I said in another thread, with the performance at Universal being what it has been in 2006, maybe a new broom at NBC will want to sweep clean.

Regime change can only help.

As much as i would like to see things become better for blu-ray this.... new management could decide to get those good titles out on hddvd and boost hddvd sales with those titles everybody wants......but probably things wont change very much very soon or not

Default Regime change at NBCUniversal has begun!

Inside word is that tomorrow, it will be announced that Robert Wright, CEO of NBCUniversal will be replaced by Jeff Zucker who is 41 years old. Wright is old school, old loyalties, old.

Executives from NBCUniversal, West Coast are in the air on there way to New York as I write this.

What will happen next. Don't know. I am hoping for a change of management at Universal so we can have some hope of format neutrality. One can only hope that the new "broom" will want a new team of his own people. With Universal having a bad year at the box office, the time might be right. We can only hope.

Hopefully this is the first signs of course correction that needs to happen.

Sorry, didn't see the other thread. Didn't think to look in "Off Topic Discussion" because I didn't think Universal's changes would be "Off Topic".

These are not changes at Universal at this time. They're at the parent company, NBC. We can only hope what might filter down.

Nothing has been changed in Universal's Home Video department though. The head exec in the Home Video department has the major thing against Sony that Deane Johnson referred to. He's still there.

Yes, but for how long? And will he not be looked into to see what is going on? Most likely there will be investigations into EVERY sector, and seeing as how Universal is head of the HD DVD PRG, questions will be asked, research will be done, and we will see what happens from then.
