Default ONKYO 805 - PS3 won't work with HDMI

Hi all,

Little bit of a dilema...

I have an ONKYO 805 that outputs through component and digital audio cables to my surround speakers and TV. I went ahead and hooked up the PS3 to HDMI1 for both Video and Audio set for GAME/TV channel with the HMDI Monitor set to NO (since HDMI is not to TV). I have the analog A/V cables hooked up to GAME/TV as well since I have to switch the PS3 over to HDMI settings for setup. With all of this, it switches over and I have a black screen and after 30 seconds.. the PS3 defaults back to A/V analog settings.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Chris

I believe you can't go down the scale in inputs, meaning you can't go in hdmi and out component.

Yep. You need to have HDMI in to HDMI out.

run the Component cables straight to the TV and keep the HDMI in receiver for audio. (tell the PS3 to output video over Component, and audio over HDMI)

At least you will get Lossless audio.

The Griff, does your TV have an HDMI input at all? Some features on the PS3 are only available through HDMI. Maybe a DVI input?

Yes, the TV has two HDMI inputs. The surround system is all integrated into the wall and only is done through component and digital audio. Looks like ill just have to HDMI to the TV and Digital Audio to the receiver for now, until I can get HDMI wired up.

Thank you all for your help! I didn't know it wouldn't convert from HDMI to component so lesson learned
