Default ps3 or samsung 2500

I am contemplating a decision for what sort of player I should get. I understand that the ps3 is a great player that is firmware upgradeable. I am also a netflix member and am interested in the ability to stream the "play now" movies directly to my device. And with HD play now in the pipes it makes it really interesting. I can get both of these devices for around the same price. Are there any special advantages that should push me one way or another?

Thanks in advance

Well, the two big advantages the 2550 has are the 7.1 analog outputs and the standard IR remote so that you can easily use a universal remote with it. If either one of those are vital to you, than the Samsung is the way to go (as a PS3 owner I'd love analog outputs since my receiver doesn't do HDMI).

Looking solely at the Blu-Ray side, the main advantage of the PS3 is that it is already Profile 2.0 compatible. Maybe the 2550 already is, but I couldn't find any definitive proof on my quick scan of Samsung's website other than that it is 2.0 ready. The PS3's main advantages are all the things it does beyond being a Blu-Ray player: a game machine and a media hub. It also has web browsing capabilities but to be honest, the browser sucks so bad it's generally easier to just go to your computer to do whatever you wanted to do.

I got rid of my PS3 because I never played the games. As a movie player it just consumed too much power and ran too hot. Plus I have the Wii and Xbox and prefer their game titles anyway. So the BDP-S350 works fine for my movie needs.

+1 I couldn't sell my PS3 (If I had one) for a standalone even if I didn't play games. Thats pretty hardcore for someone to do that.
