Default Cable modem + router + wireless = help?

Hey all,

Quick question:

Right now i'm getting my internet through Time Warner cable with their RCA modem. I have a Linksys wireless router hooked up to that (for my PS3, laptop and desktop). I was wondering if there is a solution that will encompass both of these options.

Is there a wireless cable modem router available? Or is that just far too many things for one item to do? Obviously it would need to be DOCSIS compatible for internet with Time Warner, or so I'm told.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Call them up and ask them if they have any wireless networking solutions, Im pretty sure you can lease a wireless router modem from them. ATT use to do that with their dsl.

I know AT&T uses one but you lease it. Not sure if any company makes one for consumers. The setup you have now though is fine, what's wrong with it?

I think Time Warner does offer a router/modem in one but you have to lease it for $9.99 per month.

You should be able to purchase something like this, then just call them up and give them the MAC address...

Hmmm...what's the possibility of a Wireless-N?

That's exactly what I'm looking for...but since I'm in an apt complex, I get cutouts sometimes.

And I'd never lease one. What's the point? I'm a full believer in not having to lease anything...INCLUDING cable boxes.

There's nothing wrong with the current setup, per se. I'd just like to consolidate. It'd be nice to have everything all in one set-up.

That's the only one i know of too. I know Motorola sells a modem with wifi but it does not have more than 1 nic port in the back.

My current router is wireless-g...and plus i think it would be great to have one item that does both. Collect the clutter.

so you want a wireless N cable modem/router?

I hear you on the clutter but is the cost really worth the space that the router occupies?

Better to that seperate devices so in case one goes out it would be cheaper. Since you lease a modem it's under warranty and the router itself would be cheaper to replace than an all in one device.

Just my .02
