Philip Seymour Hoffman Penguin Picture - Blu-ray Forum

In an article posted over at CinemaBlend, someone supposedly emailed in a "makeup test" picture of Hoffman as the Penguin, i.e. a mockup often created by a hired artist when a studio is trying to figure out if they want an actor in a makeup intensive role. The writer believes--as i'm sure everyone else does--that regardless of the email's claims, this is likely just a bang up photoshop job by a fan. still looks cool either way so i thought i'd share with everyone.

What? No "Johnny Depp as The Riddler" picture. I'm surprised no one has done a mock-up of that yet. No wait, I guess they could just refer to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for that.

Definitely looks fake. The Penguin isn't one of my favorite villains, but IF he was cast I bet PSH would do a great job.

Hoffman as the Penguin is simply good casting. But that picture? No way. People need to stop thinking of Devito's mutant Penguin as the norm for the character. It's not. That was Tim Burton's twisted take on the character, and it worked in his surrealistic world. There is absolutely no reason why the Penguin in a Nolan film would need to be "mutant" in anyway. Just make him an eccentric criminal in a tuxedo with an umbrella (and possibly throw in a nose prosthetic). Hell, he could even be a mafia guy trying to take over Gotham's underworld. Add in a second bad guy with a more visual gimmick for marketing reasons and off you go!
