Default Planet Earth: Blu-Ray vs. Discovery HD

Does anyone have any comments on the quality of the Planet Earth blu-ray versus the quality of what DiscoveryHD broadcasted?

I have the blu-ray version (which looks pretty good), but didn't see any of DiscoveryHD's original presentation (I know it's pathetic, but my cable provider doesn't offer any HD channels..)

According to highdefdigest.com, "the DiscoveryHD presentation was constrained by heavy compression, which results in tons of artifacts, reduced resolution, and macroblocking. Far superior to the broadcast version, both next-gen editions boast wonderfully stable video, no obvious compression noise, and certainly no pixel break-up."

I've seen other broadcasts on DiscoveryHD where the clarity was equal to, if not better, than Planet Earth. Just checking to see what anyone else thinks about this..

Thanks.

Well I can definitely say that the blu-ray set looks wayyy better than the broadcast... The macroblocking was insane on shots with all the birds flying or any other high activity shots. Though, with the image problems on the blu-ray release, I'm wondering if they were present in the broadcast as well...

Well I have a few episodes recorded on my HD tivo from Discovery HD Theater, and also have the Bluray now so I can do some direct A-B comparisons. Which scenes/epsiodes had the issues on the bluray? I can see if the same problems are on the broadcast. From initial quick observations, the bluray is far better...all the water scenes on the broadcast have heavy macroblocking from mpeg compression...I was just looking at the shark and sea lion jumping scenes.
