I was thinking of going with the 5020 but I want the 8 inches. So is Amazons price of $2408 right now the best price Im going to see? Im sure if I waited another month it might drop more but Im looking to buy soon.

I bet the price is pretty close to bottom, as the new models will be coming out soon. $2400 for a 58" 800U is amazing. I paid $2K for my 720p TH-58PE75U last spring because that price was tough to beat for a 'big' plasma. I've heard rumors that the new 58" models with 96Hz refresh rates will be priced at the $2400 mark, but have not seen anything definitive yet. If they come out at that price, I'm definitely going to bite the bullet and upgrade.

My brother in law just picked this up at a costco near his house for 2499.99 but he has 90 to return it,plus he gets 2 years EW after panasonic year is up. 58800u is one heck of a tv.

What series are you talking about when you say (new) 58inch model?
I thought it was a 54 incher that was getting all the press.

The 54" is the only size available in the Z-Series, but the V-Series are supposed to have 96Hz (4:4 pulldown) for 1080p24 sources and will be available in 50, 54, 58 and 65" sizes, but the latter two will be later on in the year.

Do you think the 54Z model will compete with or top your Elite? Im trying to hold out before buying another set. Part of me wants to land a deal NOW and get a 151 Elite, but then something is saying to wait for the Z to come out. I wish you could get it now and do a comparison review for me so I would know what to get at your expense
