Default Samsung home theaters

I rushed into the home theater idea and bought a Samsung system that has a player that is not Blu Ray. I like the speakers which I have already mounted. Is there a Blu Ray player that I can purchase and hook up to the speakers I have already mounted? I really don't want to buy a whole new system. I cannot find that information anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Which Samsung home theater system do you have? YOu might be able to get a Blu-ray player to work with it IF the Samsung HTiB have Multichannel analog inputs and/or HDMI Inputs. I doubt it though. Get back to us with the model # for your system and TV.

Guys, it sounds like he got a home theater in a box. Can you take it back? You will get a better investment from separate components. Blu-ray player, HD receiver, and a speaker package. I guarantee this option would out perform the HTiB.

Rushing into a purchase often leads one to wish they hadn't...

If your receiver/amp has a digital audio input you could add a Blu-ray player... if not you're SOL.

Even then he can't take advantage of the HD audio codecs. I'm quite sure that you system won't work with a Blu-ray player, well at least in won't take advantage of the HD audio. I just took a look at the current HTiB systems that Samsung offers and none of them have HDMI input or multichannel analog input.

The only way you could get a Blu-ray player to work is if you connect it directly to the TV via HDMI for video and use an optical cable between you HTiB and the Blu-ray player for your audio. But as i said you won;t get HD audio.

Yep you are right - HD audio codecs would not be available but he could still view and listen to the Blu-ray player for now... which would be an improvement - then later upgrade to a real AVR.

Default Samsung theater system

What I bought is a Samsung DVD home theater system Model HT-Z310. And I can't take it back as it is after the 30 days according to Best Buy.

Ok, so for now you can hook up a Blu-ray player but you won't be taking advantage of the HD audio formats that come with Blu-ray movies. You can still use the lossy audio though. Connect the player to the TV with an HDMI cable to transfer video and connect the player to the DVD HT System with an optical audio cable.

Then later on you can get a receiver that can decode the HD audio...it must have HDMI as well. And you can upgrade your speakers and use the HT-Z310 with another TV.
