Default Why are Blu-ray menus so clunky?

I just watched Max Payne (only half and I turned it off, the movie sucked) and I noticed the menu was very elegant. I clicked on sound, the sound options opened and defaulted to DTS, once I chose DTS it went to subtitles and defaulted automatically to none, clicked on it and it went back to play by itself. Simple.

Most Blus have menus that require too many submenus, multiple clicks, refuse to open or take you directly to the movie. DVDs use to have more straightforward menus. Since Blu-rays is the most advanced technology, why are the menus so clunky?

I think many companys really try to show off how great blu ray is by having very extravagant menus and they turn out clunky because, I mean, it's a menu for god sake, it doesn't have to be nice. But they want to show you how Blu Ray has these abilitys and what not.

I don't have a problem with most of them either. Cars was about the only menu I didn't care for out of the ones I've watched so far, but the rest of the BD for Cars was awesome.

I do,and it is one of the most confusing things I've ever seen.I never got into any of the bonus material because I didn't feel like fighting with the menu.

I like a menu that is attractive, but easy to navigate.

So far none of the BR menus I've seen have caused me any trouble yet.

Don't even get me started on that!! One of the best things about Memento coming out on BD was that I could sell that DVD set and never see that so-called menu again.

Thread moved to players section - - this is likely a player-related issue.

Yeah some menus are rather elaborate. One of the nicest menus I've seen imo was the menu on the I, Robot blu-ray. Very smooth and attractive.

Oh the joys of using a computer to speedily move through menus. I agree though, they can tend to be unnecessarily elaborate.

Is it just me or do DISNEY's Menus take FOREVER to LOAD!!! I have a Panny-35 player and usually it doesn't take too long but DISNEY takes so long. ESPECIALLY on the HSM3 the deleted scenes would pause for like 10sec before it would show another one...

me too, except for Dan In Real Life. I click the menu button and it takes like 7-10 seconds to come up, my other movies doesn't do that. I think it's because the menu has so much stuff going on it just takes long to load. I prefer Universal menus, slick and simple.

I watched Pride and Glory today. Thre was no menu, it went straight to the movie. I used the audio button to select the Dolby TrueHD option, the movie defaulted to DD. This is a New line Home Video release.
