Who DOESN'T have an HDTV but still buys Blu-ray?

i don't own an HDTV at the moment and i'm still buying Blu-ray movies... why? because i support Blu-ray and it will all be well worth it once the Sony XBR4's come out

Anyone else support Blu-ray like me?

I collected Blu-ray movies for 2 months before I had the PS3 and another 2 or 3 weeks before I got an HDMI receiver and HDTV!

It's more exciting that way. It's like you've been dating this person for months. Then, you find out that tonight's the night (you know what I mean)! Well, that's how I felt.

I as well had 5 blu-ray dvds before purchasing my bd-p1000 and am now hunting a new reciever

I have close to 60 blu-rays now, with more coming in the mail.
I also own a PS3.
I currently can't fit a HDTV in my budget right now, but I am saving up for one and will have one someday.
I am targeting the 40" Sony Bravia 1080p with the glass frame (round $3000).

60+ blu rays X average cost of $25 = $1500.....thats pretty damn close to a HDTV in my books....ive seen 1080p sets in the Sunday fliers for as little as 1500...theres a 37" LG this week at best buy 1080p for 1300 I believe......can get a nice 42" Westinghouse 1080p for 1800.....I spent 1200 on a 720p/1080i set before I realized I could have waited an extra 2 weeks (this was a few weeks before the SUperbowl and HDTV megasales) and got a 1080p set for as low as 1300......the next tv I will get will be a1080p in a year or so whenever I move out of my moms and find a real job with my fresh college degree....o yeeeahhh!

If you're on a tight budget, there's even a Gateway 24" monitor that's like $625

I fell in Love with Blu-ray before this whole
hi-def thing started.. and if each purchase
I make helps the bd camp then cheroo might
not be able to enjoy then to the fullest... but
by golly hd dud must die... (kill bill music starts
to play)

BTW a interesting note blu-rays do
run on sd tvs and they look more crisp
then dvds... and at the end of the day
im a firm supporter of blu-ray...

When I get this 550 dollar month
student loans paid up I might be able
to start planning on a tv... (yes I consolidated
the interest oddly enough stayed the same)

You can get the 42" 1080P Westinghouse for under $1200 and the 37" 1080P is under $1k. Plus you don't have to deal with the idiots at Bestbuy. 5 HD sets purchased since 2001 and the nly one I had problems with, becuase of the sales people, was the one I bought locally from BB. The other 4 I bought online was a pinless process. Zeven the set that had to be exchanged was easy. Much easier than having to deal with the idiots I had to deal with at BestBuy.

Bought a 50" Sony 1080i TV Xmas 2005, bought a PS3 and BD's on launch day November 2006, bought a 50" SXRD Superbowl time 2007, next is an HDMI receiver.

I heard the Sony Bravia 32'' XBR4s will be much cheaper than the XBR1, S2000, and XBR2.

in my opinion there is barely any difference in PQ between 1080p and 1080i. Any difference is negligible.

If you hadn't bought the 60 Blu-Ray movies, you'd have the TV already(almost -that's a $1200 downpayment)...really - what's the point without the television to support it?

Movies will always be there - probably even cheaper on Ebay if you waited and bought the TV...

I bought every Blu-ray Disc possible on launch. I waited about a week and a half and couldn't stand looking at all of those discs everyday, so I then bought a Sammy BDP-1000. After exchanging it a few times, I finally got a player that worked well and at a price that I liked.

Actually I buy them used on half.com, so I haven't payed nearly that much for them.

I plan on having the TV by the end of the year, maybe even sooner.

So if I know I'm gonna get it, why not buy the movies to enjoy on it when I can get good deals on them?

im in the club now. my hdtv just can't handle movement, ive gone through two now, the new one has an annoying hum. bye bye sharp. every time the camera moves the whole screen just flickers. im waiting for a tv that does 1080p/120hz. my xmas present to myself this year. however, no worries about supporting blu. i will be more than happy to continue to pick up BD at the same rate.
