Default How much of your Blu collection consists of Blind Buys?

How much of your Blu collection did you buy without seeing before hand?

My List is

Alvin and the Chipmunks
Casino Royale
Dan in Real Life
Dave Matthews Concert
Live Free or Die Hard
Gone Baby Gone
Justice League
No Country of Old Men
Saw IV
30 Days of Night
3:10 To Yuma
Ultimate Avengers

Now I have 51 movies, thats a big chunk

Here is the list of them that I have watched since getting them

Dan in Real Life

10 Min of Dave Matthews

Justice League

Yeah im pathetic for not watching 3:10, or Casino Royale, but its tough to find the time. Although the 3 I have seen have been great. Dan in Real Life was surprisingly good, and so was Justice League, and even though I only watched 10 min, I liked what I saw from Dave. I try to watch, 1 of them a weekend. I think ill watch Alvin with my son this weekend

My blind buys that I've watched so far:

Full Metal Jacket (only partial blind buy here, I'd seen bits and pieces)
Blood Diamond
I Am Legend
Flyboys
The Fugitive (again, only partial blind buy)
3:10 to Yuma
Pirates of the Caribbean 3: AWE
Blade Runner
Ratatouille
American Psycho (technically one of my five free)
Unforgiven
Bad Santa

Ones that I haven't watched yet:

2001: A Space Odyssey (just got this today though, gonna watch it SOON)
The Great Raid
Big Fish
Goodfellas
S.W.A.T. (also one of my five free)
Kingdom of Heaven
Letters from Iwo Jima
The Searchers
Transporter 2

A lot of my blind buys were during the BOGO days of Amazon, and only if they had a good review here on the site, so Amazon should be thankful to the reviewers here for creating sales.

I should note, of the blind buys that I've watched so far, the only one I did not like was Blade Runner, but I've read around and it might be because of the version I watched, something about the one with Harrison Ford's narration is supposed to be the best one.

Out of the 125 Blu-rays I have, about 80 of them were blind buys!

I have 110 blu's right now and I'd guess 40% of them were blind buys.

I thnk blnd buying movies is dumb I did it twice with 3:10 to yuma and no country for old men and I didn't care for them. thank god for bluray.com cause I just traded them away. I rent before buying which helps me from actually having blade runner and shoot em up in my collection.

Do you think people that go to the movie theater are dumb too? There is a large percentage of the population that go to movies on a weekly basis and pay $20-$30 (per couple, not including snacks) to watch a movie they've never seen before...a blind buy!

Rather than go to a theater I prefer to blind buy movies and watch at home. I enjoy my experience more at home since I have all the quality but no crowds and cell phones.

With a large number of members that I see pre-ordering movies I have a hard time believing that they have seen all those movies in a theater and are of the same mind set as I am.

Because a good portion of my Blu collection is replacing older DVDs that I had, I would say that I am about 50% blind buy at this point. But if you consider just new releases, I am about 95% blind buy, and I don't feel dumb for doing it.

If I don't see it in the movies or download the screener, then I Net Flix it first.

Always -- I don't want any junk in my collection.

That's my current philosophy. I only have 12 blu ray movies and so far zero have been bought blindly.

Thatll change. I had my first 15 or so, then I kept hearing "oh this is a great movie" and if it was on sale, I picked it up

No blind buys for me. Netflix or theater first. I want my collection to be extremely re-watchable.

None. Only buy ones I will watch over and over. I don't waste money on horrible movies. I want to send the message to hollywood to stop making crap lol

I should just send a memo to Michael Bay and Uwe Bowl I guess.
