How many blind buys do you do based on reviews from this site? - Blu-ray Forum

Are any of you like me and make your blind buys first, based off the "reviewer" that reviews on this site and secondly, the reviews by us and other posters?
After a while you get to know some of the tastes of certain people that are on here a lot. I for one have bought a few Blu's based on what YOU have said about the disc. How about you?

None anymore! I Netflix anything that I see from a review might interest me first, then if I like it enough, I buy it.

I believe in the Netflix technique. Saved me from buying a lot of crap.

I blind buy fairly often based on reviews from this site. I also blind buy movies that have no review but peak my interest.

About half of my blind buy based on reviews from this site (about 40 titles).

Only two: Baraka and Sunshine. Both were absolutely fantastic movies.

Best blind by from reading on this site so far is Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Never heard of it until I just went ahead and made the damn purchase. I'm glad I did too

If it's a blind buy, I go by the site... But I always check to see if there's a review before I buy for video/audio and extras..

I think that's the key to using them (i.e. learning the tastes of reviewers and members). Good point.

I seldom read the reviews prior, I buy and watch movies for their entertainment value not for all the things people gripe about.Now if its a crap movie Ill say it but I dont dissect the sound or PQ. I think alot of the members here lose focus on that

Being that I work at a local movie gallery (about 3 hours a week just to keep my stuff free and I get it 6 days before street) I do a lot of my previewing then, so I dont get many blind buys. But if I'm at my local WM or drive 20 minutes to my nearest BB and see a movie that catches my eye, I'll definitely pull out the blackberry and hit up this site to check the reviews!

I get plenty of blind buys but that has nothing to do with reviews from this site or any other site. I blind buy movies based on what I want to see and if I missed it in theatres. I could care less what a reviewer says on the movie or picture quality.

Almost all of my blind buys come from reviews from this site, or HDD or Rotten Tomato's, I usually only look at rotten tomato's after seeing a good review a one of the other two sites

I never blind buy anymore, I just rent everything I haven't seen yet. Saved me from buying movies I would never watch again like Event Horizon, Gran Torino, and Outlander, which got praised here. Not talking so much about the official reviews, which I only pay attention to for the PQ and AQ ratings, but from member reviews.

I mainly use the reviews to get the PQ and AQ. But it's been 85% accurate in terms of which one is a good movie I would like.

I disagreed with the movie rating for A Scanner Darkly and loved the film. However, I also didn't listen to the movie rating for Crank and bought the darn thing. I ended up selling it immediately after watching it.

Now I just rent first before blind buying. Don't want to deal with anymore hassles.
