Aerosmith - Either Texxas Jam, or any recent tour show. They're great live. Nice guys. And the still do it better than bands that come and go.
Los Enanitos Verdes - If you never heard these guys, you should. You don't need to understand Spanish because musically, they're GREAT. I shot a recent show of theirs here in Texas,... WOW!!!! Check em out. 30 years and still kicking butt! Mana - They outsell HUGE American artists when they tour America. These guys are just classic. Check out their Mtv Unplugged show. La Ley - Their Mtv Unplugged show would be beautiful on Blu. The DVD sounds crisp and clear. The singer, Beto Cuevas, sounds like a Spanish Elvis. Just a rant... Off to play Gta4. PSN: mrpinkrocks |

if we're talking about blu ray video and such i would go with the following artists:
edie brickell and new bohemians (this could easily be done as they taped a lot of their shows and recently too) the sundays r.e.m. 10,000 maniacs the b-52's the cure natalie merchant liz phair radiohead bjork phish suzanne vega ben folds billy bragg tracy chapman the smiths morrissey the sugarcubes great choice there, but it would definitely have to be their early 90's stuff. that's when they were the best. |

Live, however, I'd still go see them play to hear such classics as The Only One I Know, I Can't Even Be Bothered, Tellin' Stories, Sproston Green, etc. I saw them in '97 on the Tellin' Stories tour with the Dandy Warhols opening up, great show. Thanks! Saw The Verve in '95, '98 and then again in '08. In '95 and '08 they were awesome, in '98 they didn't have McCabe on guitar so it wasn't quite the same. I would love a Blu-ray of The Verve jamming out some of their oldie greats like Already There, Stormy Clouds, etc. |

Ladies And Gentlemen will never come out, it's never hit DVD. There is no rational reason for this, but it's a lost film at this point other than in collectors circles. The *Censored* Blues film will never come out either, lol. Both of them could use the quality upgrade. And while I'd love to see Hal Ashby's 25x5 and the one that had all their MTV video singles up until that point (forget the name of it), neither of those is likely to hit the light of day either, sigh. I think Max is possible, the Best Buy exclusive one or parts of it are possible, but Gimme Shelter is probably the next one coming. It's just my opinion, but for Voodoo Lounge, Bridges to Babylon or Rock N Roll Circus to come out we'd probably have to see the deaths of Mick or Keith and a lot of media coverage the way the world stopped when Lennon died and TV stations showed old Beatles newsclips for 36 hours straight or so.
Grateful Dead aren't coming anytime soon either. Of their existing DVDs four of them are already out of print, and no plans for rerelease, Touch Of Grey and another are on VHS only and never made it to DVD, Rhino hasn't done much with the Dead empire they leased from the band, and most deadheads don't buy commercial releases and very, very few have Blu players or plans to get one. Phish releases are far more likely to come first as is more DMB and stuff like SCI and all the newer jam bands. Doors stuff will come out eventually, when is their next anniversary of anything? Their fans are rabid and will all happily double dip so the prior releases will be no brainer catalog titles. But overall we have far better chances that things to be released in the future from tours happening this year or next will get released than that we will see 100 killer DVD and VHS releases surface anytime soon. The major studios just have too many mainstream movies people are clamoring for to think about music stuff that less people care about. For every person who wants a Phish release, just to pick any one band at random, many other people do not. You can sit and name bands till you are blu in the face, and a dozen people can echo your sentiments but it boils down to how many copies the DVD of it sold, who holds the rights now and whether they even care to have it out, what else they can release instead, etc. as well as the problem bands like Floyd who won't let things come out till they can work on it themselves, etc. But if you want to name crap just to sit and spew names of crap, Bangladesh should come out, the Cream reunion gigs in London, the Led Zep reunion gig, Pulse would have wide appeal, I'd love to see Fillmore resurface because it's got 3 screens at once and when shown on cable one usually gets cut off, and it too has never hit DVD, and the list goes ever on. And, hello, Let It Be? Also never hit DVD. In short, if you think out who is having anniversaries of anything major coming up (which is 2 more years for Bangladesh's 40th, for example, and 2 more years for Fillmore's closing week), who is likely to die (you always have a better chance they will rush stuff out after someone dies than before, sadly), who has the most existing footage to begin with, that's likely to be what's coming, imho. Let's all hope I am wrong!!! ![]() Last edited by garnet; 01-22-2009 at 08:43 AM. Reason: added Let It Be... |
