Default Sony to Sell Special HDTVs For Wal-Mart, Target

I am glad to see that Walmart and Target will be carrying 1080P displays from Sony and this also is good for the BLU-RAY camp.
http://www.tvpredictions.com/sonydiscount061207.htm

Circuit City and Best Buy will now have a harder time making profits since now Walmart is going to be carrying name brand 1080P products. I wonder if Tweeter and Circuit City will be able to survive with all this
competition. One day we might just have Best Buy and Walmart to purchase items locally from. It is getting harder and harder to find high end electronics stores nationwide, most of them usually end up going under. I guess it does not help that I purchase a lot of products online over the Internet instead of supporting my local high end store more often.

But the sets will probably be castrated to sell at a lower price. they won't be the same models that CC and BB sell. Some of the features will have to be removed for Sony to sell them at a lower price point.

I spend around $5K a year at Walmart. They also have an excellent return policy. 90 days.
The only reason I don't spend more there is because I have to pay taxes on purchases from Walmart.

This was also on the news this morning. The news said that Sony would only be releasing their lower end flat panels to Wally World. Wal Mart won't see anything above $3000.

How could any of you like Target?

Target makes me sick quite honestly..

First of all, they give HD-DVD as much space as Blu-Ray. The HD-DVD card makes Blu-Ray seem "inferior" and they even give incentives for the purchase of HD-DVD players [such as $25 gift card] and their PRP plans don't cover enough for a PS3 but do enough for a 360.

Second of all, they are very anti Sony...the Wii, the DS Lite, and the 360 are their main ad pieces. Their PS3 section is just one tiny little section, while Nintendo gets their own row: they still even stock Gamecube in full. Their PS2section is mostly all budget...

I just don't like Target....my Wal-Mart has two cabinets for PS2, one for PS3, one for PSP, plus an all Sony accesory section, plus the Greatest Hits/Budget section is already half way Sony. Just one little Xbox section, one little 360 section, and the DS Lite and Wii stuff all in one section.

Their movies are mostly all DVD, and the only next gen stuff they have is BLU-RAY. And I don't know about the rumors of $300 HD-DVD players, because they put their Toshiba HD-DVD machines on clearance WAAAAY before the price drops..almost as if they knew HD-DVD would lose them money.

You will regret it!!! I live in Guam and as I said we only have a K-Mart....I do not think about Target or any other stores, I just think about Wally World. Do not take things for granted...on Guam all these "mom and pop" stores that everyone defends to an extreme charge us $6 for a gallon of milk...MILK!!!!!!!!! $4.50 for 1 get it one cucumber!!!!!! Now I have base privileges and can shop for cheap on a military base (just around 5-10% more of what the items cost). Be glad you have Wal-Mart as regular people are more greedy that corporations!!

I try to avoid it like the plague. My father calls it the "Mexican Mall" because it almost seems that way. 3/4 of the people hate themselves and the other 1/4 can't speak english.

I LOVE TARGET! And now each Target has a pizza hut and starbucks, so I'm all set. I can eat and drink and my favorite stuff and then buy good quality stuff in a clean environment. Also, around here it seems like they only hire the good looking college girls to work the store.

my wife works at walmart. I hate walmart. for that matter I hate target as well. both treat their employees like crap. targets ''cute college girls'' are only there part time so they don't get beaten down like the full time people do. I don't shop at those stores because they treat their people like crap (including my wife), and they both sell crappy products. target just makes theirs look nicer.

I think the tvs will be ok. what features can they really remove and keep the tvs working?

as for guam I will quote lewis black from his take on new zealand. ''if guam wants to be a part of the rest of the world, maybe they should all jump off and push it a little closer.''
