That's not a marathon. That's 3 mini fun runs. Wonder who will watch the first night.

I watched a lil bit of I and II last night but the movies weren't shown in their OAR and it was no different than watching Spike TV.

Why in the world would you want to watch a movie, any movie on MTV with commercial breaks, stupid little widgets all over the screen, announcements about other TV shows all over the screen along with the channel logo at the bottom of the screen, when you can get your DVD's and watch them with much better quality and sound???

Which is exactly what I've done.

Ever since trying to watch them on Spike(or TNT can't remember) with Lord Of The Rings ads taking up the bottom 20% of the screen every 15 minutes, if a movie on TV interests me, I just pull out the BD or DVD. TV Is for sports or series anymore.

they are also showing those funny skits they did for each film from past movie award shows. I think thats what's making the run time of these about 3½ hrs longer than when on Spike. IMO.

I agree about how all Channels having to keep there logo (Bugs) on screen all the time now, like no one can just hit there remotes to the on screen guide to see what channel they have on.

Also, have you ever tried watching a movie on IFC with subtitles

Right in the middle of the most important scene of the movie, they put a crawl advertising the next movie on the channel...Over the subtitles!hairpull.gif

Did they start doing that within the last year? I don't remember that. I know they did that once the end credits would start rolling but not during the film.

Personally, I don't understand why someone would watch a movie on TV this day and age. My wife does that all the time. I tell her,"You know we have this on Blu, right?"

I couldn't believe it when I saw these on MTV - does MTV even play music anymore - ever? Now they're playing movies?

Anyway, it's fun to see these in HD - (they look amazing!). I just tune in once in a while.

I had seen them all (1-6) in HD on HBO - had them all on the DVR for a while. They look great.

But ever since the prequels, I just don't enjoy Star Wars like I used to.

As for watching it on tv vs. DVD/Blu - sometimes you just get caught up (those are the really good movies), and sometimes, it's just cool to watch something on tv as it's on, while others are watching it at the same time, makes it kind of an "event".

As mentioned before, MTV added interstituals to their broadcasts so you can see some rare unseen footage from the Lucasfilm Archives. There was a nice piece on the composing of the Episode I final duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul. You can see John Williams conducting the orchestra while the films plays on a projected screen for them.
