I'm guessing that most of those people who ordered it from Amazon and got the slip cover probably bought it back when it first came out or shortly there after.
It is pretty typical for these releases to come out with slipcovers initially, but for later copies to show up without them. Most copies of this movie that I've seen in stores recently do not have the slipcovers. And the occasional one that does has probably just been hanging around for a while.
Heck, I was actually surprised to already start seeing copies of the Ghostbusters Blu-Ray without slipcovers. That came out just shy of a month ago and had a slipcover (mine came with one), but I was at Best Buy recently and they had several copies, all without the covers.
I, too, get annoyed when the movie should come with one (and its a new release) and I do not receive it (I can see people being annoyed with som copies of Ghostbusters not coming with one at this point since that is a very recent release).
But, it is common for these things to only be around for a limited time. And complaining to Amazon really isn't going to accomplish anything. The reason that you are receiving the movies without the covers from Amazon is because that is how they are receiving them from the studio. Granted, I'm sure
on occasion a slip cover may fall off or get damaged somewhere between Amazon getting the discs from the studio and amazon packing them up to ship to the customers, and they remove the damanged ones, resulting in copies that would have had slip covers not coming with them, but this type of thing probably only happens 0.00001% of the time. Odds are, if you receive a movie from Amazon without a slipcover, it's because that is the way it arrived when they got it in stock.
It's not like there's some evil Amazon warehouse manager taking all of the slip covers off of the DVDs and Blu-Rays, piling them up all over his office while he sits at his desk looking at all of them while tapping the tips of his fingers together with a villianous smile on his face, laughing maniacally while telling his his favorite lacky about how his evil plan to screw customers out of their movie slipcovers is going better than he could have ever hoped.
This movie has been out since the end of last year. If you are just buying it now, your chances of getting the cover are pretty slim. If getting the cover is that important to you, then I would advise not buying the movie from sites like Amazon, and instead search physical brick and mortar stores for such a copy, or go to places like ebay or craigslist and see if someone is specifically selling a copy with the cover intact.
And if you want to complain, contact the home video department of the studios/distributors. Complaining to Amazon isn't going to make slipcovers that they never received in the first place magically materialize.
