Default Robocop - A question (and sad tale)

Hi gang,

I was recently at a MovieStop in FL, and I had asked several employees there if they had seen Robocop on Blu-Ray.

Apparently, the employees of said movie store are not fans of movies, as one said, and I quote: "No. In fact, Blu-ray is on its way out. I wouldn't waste your money on that format. Besides, all old movies on BR look like crap anyways."

The other counter monkey said that he had only seen two blu-rays in his life, and Robocop wasn't one of them. Two BRs. In his life. And he works, in a store, surrounded by movies.

Now after I argued with the first guy for 10 minutes, defending 'old' films such as Godfather and Die Hard in their quality transfer to this 'fading' format, and sadly shook my head at the second guy, my buddy suggested I go to a more intelligent source.

So gang, who's seen it on BR, and how's it look? I ask b/c the aforementioned store had it on sale for 12.99, but here's the thing: I own the Criterion version, which is OOP, and it's unrated, like the BR version.

I didn't want to re-buy it unless it was well worth it. I'll never sell the Crit. version, but is it much better or one of those grainy transfers?

Thanks in advance,

Reeper1976

It didn't fare so well with regard to AQ and PQ when reviewed by the pros from this site.

I think Robocop is as good as it's going to get from what I read when it first came out.

Yeah, that's what I said. The problem is, they sell used BRs, and they are super cheap and in great condition. So, I just ignore the cast of Idiocracy and buy what I need and get the hell out.

Thanks for the follow up, guys.

I think its just a couple of more seconds of gore. Like I know for a fact that the scene in which they are showing off the ED-209 when he shoots the guy to death that scene is extended by a couple of seconds and I could swear that the scene where they murder Murphy was extended as well. So overall, just more gore.

I do not own this one and have not seen it, however all reviews I have seen say it does not look much better than SD version...

But I guess it doesnt matter anyway tho, blu-ray is on its way out, sales are waaaaaaaaay down, I mean, I only purchased about 8 in the last month... and I guess sales being up like what 150% from last year is a baaaaaaad sign...

Man I cant take this pressure...

There should be a law against stupid people in video stores

I am watching now. PQ is better than expected with all the negative reviews.

Movie PQ = 7 out of 10
Commericial/Newscast PQ = 1 out of 10. I do think it is intentional though.

I forgot how much ass this movie kicks.
