Have started watching this & just let me say how fantastic it is in BD - the re-mastering is a real treat. I so like also being able to see the original version on the same disc - just one small problem which I am hoping someone here may be able to help me out with. The instructions say u can flip from the original to the re-mastered version while you're watching it (i.e., in real-time) by pressing the 'Angle" (or pop-up menu) button on yr remote. Now this only seems to work sometimes - other times when I press the button it says "feature not available here".
Is anyone able to shed any light on this for me. FYI, I'm playing BD thru my Playstation & using the PS3 bluetooth remote. Appreciate any help...thx. |

Ah! Now it makes sense...so it's not quite as 'seamless' to switch between them as the marketing blurb would have you believe...oh well! It's still a terrific transfer. Thanks.

Quite seamless actually, you just have to realize that the option is only available during scenes in which there is a remastered effects sequence like someone already mentioned.

I think this work, well I saw my friend doing this with his Sony 550 but it did not seem to work for me on my Samsung, not sure if it's my player.

seamless branching has to do with the movie appearing seamless, you don't see where it branches out (i.e. most of the movie is the same but where the old vs new happens it branches for one of them)
for the original question, if you use the pop up menu you can set old vs new at any time and it sets it for old/new when it happens. If you use angle you can only do it during the parts which have old vs new. |

Though this doesn't deal with the OP question, I thought it appropriate to ask this question here as opposed to starting a new thread:
I wanted to confirm that the TOS season 1 release includes the pilot where Kirk is not present...I heard that it does, but I haven't been able to confirm it yet. EDIT: I think I found my answer from the highdefdigest review "However, it should be noted that this box set does not contain the first produced pilot episode ('The Cage' starring Jeffrey Hunter as Capt. Christopher Pike) that was rejected by NBC. We can expect that episode at the end of the eventual Season 3 box set." ...that's a little disappointing, but hopefully they're right in the fact that it may be on the season 3 boxset Last edited by cathexist; 05-28-2009 at 08:36 PM. |

This set is really fabulous and the remastering looks awesome. Skip the awful movie set and get season one. Last edited by Clark Kent; 05-30-2009 at 01:31 AM. |
