Dreamworks as been seriously missing with me. Only movie of them I have liked is Kung Fu Panda, the rest of them it was very ordinary.

I might like seeing another Kung Fu Panda even if the first one would be enough but if they bring back the same cast and don't fall into their usual stupid ways.

i'm excited to see madagascar, shrek, kung fu panda, and the how to train your dragon one....the robert downey jr. superhero one sounds like it could be fun, a villian that beats the good guy and gets bored....some ideas for movies seem so obvious once you hear them!!!

Isn't it about time Dreamworks put Shrek to rest, how many sequels do we need of this.

<contemporary-superhero parody>
<monster-city comedy>
<giving the Lilo & Stitch director anything he wants to do>

...And some interesting ideas we've seen already. Mostly from Pixar.

looks like things are starting to go downhill for them. Let's do sequels because we KNOW they will make money instead of thinking of something else original. They do have a few "original" ideas, but even these seem tired. I used to be excited for Dreamworks Animation movies, but they have had way too many misses rather than hits on their hands. Monsters VS Aliens was okay. Madagascar 2 was a mess. Bee Movie makes me shudder thinking how bad it was. I really liked Kung Fu Panda. The first two Shrek movies were good, but the third was totally unnecessary. Over the Hedge was another good one, but Shark Tale stunk and Antz was pretty bad too.

So, Five movies every two years from now on? Sounds like they are trying to flood the market instead of taking time to develop a good story.

The Guardians (working title), based on the forthcoming books by William Joyce, will be released on November 4, 2011. It was brought to the Company by William Joyce and Reel FX, and is being directed by Jeff Lynch in collaboration with William Joyce and produced by Christina Steinberg and Nancy Bernstein. The world's five unlikeliest heroes - Jack Frost, North (aka Santa), Bunnymund (the Easter Bunny), Tooth (the Tooth Fairy), and Sandy (the Sandman) - must band together to stop an ancient spirit called Pitch (the Boogeyman) from plunging the world into eternal darkness.
Does anyone else think this sound something like The Hogfather?

Maybe, but don't worry, Dreamworks tends to grab any good concept which gives a good laugh for the first five minutes and then bores you with it for the remainder of the film.

Meh. Kung Fu Panda was decent but nothing I need to own. I've never really cared for any of the other films & I despise the Shrek franchise---Flushed Away is my favorite Dreamworks Animation product and it's as much an Aardman film. I applaud the general principle of adapting existing literature, but I don't know How To Train Your Dragon or (obviously) the "forthcoming" books behind The Guardians. Overall I don't see much to get excited about.

And if they make them cheaply enough and the films do well enough at the BO to amass a bigger overall bottom line, they'll be a "better" studio than Pixar...right?

I have no intrest in any of these films. What happened Dreamworks? I miss the old Dreamworks, with films like Saving Private Ryan, Evolution, Flags of Our Fathers and The Peacemaker. With the titles they are releasing, I have given up on the studio.

Shrek was old after the second movie, haven't even seen the first Kung Fu Panda and Puss n Boots movie just has stupid written all over it.

Um, yeah, Pixar makes soooo many sequels because they have no original ideas. So far they have only made one, Toy Story 2. Yes they have Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 planned. But Dreamworks has had Shrek 2 and 3 and Madagascar 2. They are also planning Shrek 4, Madagascar 3, and Kung Fu Panda 2 and you could even say that Puss in Boots is kind of a sequel to Shrek.
