Default Every Blu-ray title ever available.

Just considering the move from conventional DVD to Blu-ray discs.
Are they really that much better ?!

Also, trying to get a complete listing of ALL blu-ray movies (since day one). Can any one offer advice on obtaining this info ?

Thanks in advance to any replies.

Steve.

Yes, they are that much better. If you have a good TV/audio setup, it's not even a comparison.

As for a complete list of Blu Ray titles, that might be a bit difficult... Not sure where to start with that one.

Uh, check the main page. They have something nifty and new...its called a database. I mean its not as awesome as fire or the wheel but it is pretty cool.

You could also just look at the top of the page and click on MOVIES. Takes you to that new fangled database I am talking about.

A huge difference Steve. I am a movie lover first, and that is why I bought into Blu-ray.

A list of every blu you say... I've often wondered about that.

I would say write down your favorite say 20 or 30 movies. At the top of this site, type in the movies one by one and see how many are in blu or coming soon. It may surprise you.

Welcome.

(Star Wars 4,5,6 are not on blu, who knows when they are coming -- not having these on blu is like...not having a front left speaker in your system. Makes very little sense)

I had to chime in and agree with everyone else. Blu-ray is that much better. Not only for the video, but also for the audio. If you have a surround sound system, then blu is worth it for the audio alone IMO. Especially if you like actions movies.

and if you can decode the losless audio codecs. But yes, the big selling point for me on blu was the audio closely followed by the video.

Blu-ray offers much better picture and audio quality but before you trash your DVD's and you are into special features, make sure you compare your original DVD and Blu-ray. Sometimes not all special features included on those DVD's make it on the Blu-ray.

However

Not ALL Blu Ray's are done properly.. a few are very sub par and not much different than the DVD version.. Most of the sub par ones are the ones going for $9-10 in stores.. One exception is Descent though, which is selling for $10. and is a fantastic transfer video/audio and a good movie.. real deal at $10.

Just look at the reviews here on Blu-Ray.Com to find out if a movie was done right on Blu before you buy any.

Make the jump. Blu-ray is worth it, especially if you have already invested in a high-definition television, and ESPECIALLY if you have made an investment into surround audio.

Someone mentioned that not all Blu-rays have a "proper" encode of video. What that basically means is that the transfer of the video could have been better. Some movies display amazing, reference-quality video, while others look little better than an upconverted DVD. Just keep in mind that practically every Blu-ray movie will show video improvement over their respective DVD counterpart.

Someone also mentioned being able to decode lossless (bit-for-bit) audio as being important. All I want to say about that is if you have an ear for the nuances of fine sound reproduction, and you have home theater equipment capable of delivering the goods on high-quality audio, you will equate lossless audio to the 1080p-capable video quality on a Blu-ray disc. You will most definitely hear what you've been missing for YEARS in the compressed audio found in the vast majority of the DVD realm.

Interesting that you want to know every BD (Blu-ray disc) title release. I'm sure there are online databases for that - I think I even saw a thread on this site which listed all current releases. That said, DON'T get rid of your DVD collection. It may take years for some of your cherished DVD movies to get a Blu-ray release.

If Blu-ray was a woman, I would marry her. What a honeymoon that would be.

Australia Blu-ray disc list.

Hey folks, heaps of thanks to all. Very much appreciated the assist.

Think i'll start switching over film by film.
One of the reasons i asked about the list, concerns those movies/discs that have been & gone... as in deleted.
So... are all the movies that have been on blu-ray still available ?

Steve.

I think a few are OoP, not sure. That's what the Internet is for though, to get hard to find items at a decent price.
