I don't know about you guys but most of the time I prefer to play a game on easy because I don't want to get so pissed I wanna break something like the controller, game console or PC. I'll play Uncharted 2 on normal though when it comes out in Aus.

Always start a new game on the normal setting. Will go to easy if the first couple of levels a hard on that setting though. Threw my old Sega 16 bit out of the window once as I was so mad at Alex the wonder kid. That console smashed into a million pieces
![]() Moral of story is-never throw a console out of the window when you live on the tenth floor. |

I will usaully play it on normal. there aren't too many games out there that's really that difficult on normal level. The game has to be really fun for me to go back and play it the 2nd time around on hard. Uncharted is the exception to the rule. No matter how hard it was on crushing, I kept playing that game. The game was still fun no matter how hard and frustrating it was. On U2, I will be starting the game on Hard because I know that even if it is on hard, I'm still going to be sitting there playing it till I finish.

Depends on the game. If it's an RPG and has a mode where you can carry over your stuff if you replay it, I start on Easy and then use the gear to make Normal/hard less-so. If I replay it at all, of course. Also, if there is a 'true' ending that requires you to beat it on a certain level, I'll do that.

I think the only games I've played on Easy out of just sheer absurd difficulty in the last few years are Novastrike and Soldner-X due to a concession to just really poor game design.
None of the disc-based games are so difficult that they merit shifting down from Normal. Most games I try to play through on Hard/Expert where I can. |

I'll try to see how far I can go on a single life before failing. I never can finish a game without dying. Most games are designed where you have no choice but to repeat the course again and again. I play on easy on most games.

Depends on the game. If a game is inherently hard, I may play it on an easier setting to reduce replaying of parts. Titles I'm skilled at I'll play on the harder modes.
If I like a game enough to play it alot, I'll shoot for mastering harder material. Like with Rock Band and DDR; I started playing them Easy/Basic, but over time I got better and can now handle Expert on most songs. |

If you are one of those who sits down with a game and plays straight through to the end in one sitting without eating, sleeping or pi**ing, then you might as well play on hard to prolong the agony. But it often takes me weeks, if not months to get through a game on the normal difficulty. If I played them more difficult, I'd never get to finish. Besides, I get bored, if I have to play the same sequence through too many times in a row.
I also like to believe "normal" is the setting the game designers had in mind for the ideal experience balancing the fun and challenge. |

Sometimes I'll play a game on easy if I'm renting it and I have a deadline to get it back. I love gaming, but I'm more into getting the experience of the game and don't get a huge amount of satisfaction in winning the game on ultra-difficult.
