Default Some hopefully easy questions

Hey All,

My first post here. I did a search to make sure no one asked this yet, I didn't see anything, but I might of missed posts. So my apologies if this has been asked before.

So my family got me a Blu-ray player for Christmas, the BDP-S300 from Sony. So far I love it, the picture quality is great. I do notice some thing though, and just wanted to get some opinions.

In all the stores, you walk past the blu-ray setups and you see the 1080p TVs playing, and the quality of the movie is just unreal. So my question I guess really is, how much quality am I missing out on running this player in either 720p or 1080i.

Then to follow up with that question, what would be the best mode to run the TV/player in. Is it 720p or 1080i. I've had a few people say 720p, some 1080i and a few say see which looks better to the eye.

Thanks for any help you could give.
